CLIP FOR TURNING OVER MUSIC-SHEETS, 81.0.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 4, 1907.
Application file: June 23,1906. Serial No. 323,140.
1'0 all whom it Huey, concern:
Be it known that I, OSCAR BLoBEL, a subject of the Emperor of Austria, residing at Villach, in the Province of Corinthia and Empire of Austria-Hungary, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clips for Turning Over Music-Sheets or the Like, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a clip devised to assist in the turning over of sheet music or the like. Upon each leaf a clip is secured in such a manner that the said clips are arranged one behind another in a row so that for turning over the music sheet each sepa rate clip can be easily taken hold of.
In the drawing the invention is illustrated as follows: Figure 1 shows a side elevation. Fig. 2 a view from above on an enlarged scale and Fig. 3 shows a series of clips arranged upon a piece of music.
The clip consists of two tongues a, I) respectively one above another and pivotally connected together. The ends which serve for taking hold of the clip are bent apart in such a manner that suflicient space is left for the insertion of a spiral spring 0, and they are cup-shaped and provided with a rim (1 which serves both to assure the position of the spring 0 and on the other hand to get rid of any sharp edge so that when the leaves are being turned or during the attachment of the clip no injury to the hand can take place. Further the ends of the clip are thereby formed into the shape of a button and the actuation of the clip is consequently more convenient.
The edges 6 of the tongues a b are rounded off so that there can be no injury done to the music sheet through the penetration of the edges and during the turning of the leaves (see Fig. 3). The lower tongue 0. is larger than the upper tongue I) so as to secure a good guidance of the clip when the same is placed upon the sheet and thereby enable the securing and clamping fast to be quickly undertaken.
As the tongues fit close one upon the other the clip takes up very little space and a row of clips can be put in place without thereby making the music book sensibly thicker.
The pivotal connection of the two tongues a b is effected in a simple manner by providing on the upper tongue 1) small lugs f which are bent over beneath the lower tongue.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is:
1. A leaf turning clip comprising two members having flat elongated portions pivoted together at one end and having separated portions extending beyond the pivot, said elongated portions having rounded ends and one being longer than the other and the separated portions being of cup-shape with a spring between such cup-shaped portions for holding the elongated flat portions in juxtaposition for grasping a leaf between them, substantially as described.
2. A leaf turning clip comprising two mem bers having flat elongated portions pivoted together at one end and having separated portions extending beyond the pivot, with a spring between such portions for holding the elongated fiat portions in juxtaposition for grasping a leaf between them, one of said flat elongated portions extending beyond the other to facilitate the entrance between the leaves, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
OSCAR BLOBEL.
I/Vitnesses:
HARRY BELMONT, ALvEsTo S. IIOGUE.
