|MPROVEMENT 'lN STREET-LAMPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 84,535, dated December 1, 1868.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, 0. CASE and B. D. EVANS, of Columbus, in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Street-Lamp; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same,-reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part ofv this specification.
The object of this invention is to provide an improved street-lamp for burning benzine.
It consists in the arrangement of the reservoir in the frame of the lamp, in combination with a cold-air chamber, and cold-air pipes for conveying cold air thereto, as will be hereinafter described.
Figure 1 represents a vertical sectional elevation of our improved lamp, and Fig.2 represents a horizontal section of the same.
A represents the frame of a street-lamp, provided with a reservoir, B, for holding the benzinc or oil, to be supplied to it through an opening in the top, having a plug, 0, to close D represents a pipe for conveying the benzine or other fluid to the burner, which we prefer to be of the kind known as retortburners. . We claim as'new and desire to Letters Patent- 1. The arrangement of the reservoir B and perforated shield E in the frame of the lamp, substantially as and for the purpose described.
2. The combination,with the reservoir B, arranged within an air-chamber, of the pipes F, communicating with the exterior of the lamp, substantially as and for the purpose described.
