Be it known that I, DAVID RIoUX, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Springfield, in the county State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Garment-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to garment-hooks and the like, the object of the invention being to provide an improved hook of this character, each part of which may be detachably secured to portions of a garment which it is desired to secure together, one part of the hook consisting of an eye or loop and the other part consisting of a pair of sister hooks with spring-shanks, also provided with means to removably attach the same to a garment.

The invention will be fully described in the following specification and the novel features thereof carefully pointed out in the claims appended thereto, the invention being illustrated in the drawings accompanying the specification, in which- Figure 1 is an elevation of the two parts of the garment-hook in engaging position, the disengaging position of thehooks being shown in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a sectional view on line 2 2 of Fig. 1, showing the manner of securing the hook member to a pin. k

Referring now to the drawings, the two parts of the fastener may be indicated as a means for distinguishing them byQ and 3, 2 being the upper part, with an eye formed therein, and 3 being the lower part, with the sister hooks formed on the extremities thereof. The part 2 comprises a safety-pin a, in the back portion of which an eye 6 is formed at right angles to the longitudinal dimension of the pin, said pin and eye all being formed in one piece of wire, one extremity of which forms the pin proper and. the other a loop 0,

with which the point of the pin engages. The other part 3 of the garment-hook comprises a member constructed-of a'single piece of wire, the two extremities of which are each bent into a semicircular form, which in the finished article produces the eye (Z. The ends of these two extremities of the wire overlap, as shown of Hampden and which the pin engages.

This may be accomplished in putting the pin together by forming the pin with the bend 0 therein a little more open than it is as shown in the drawings and with the pin portion 7' more or less straightened out, so that this latter portion may be passed through the loops f, following the path indicated by the position of the back portion 71. in Fig. 2, whereupon the pin portion may be then bent around practically parallel with the back portion it and the bend 0 closed up to lit tightly around that portion of the loop j which it encircles, whereby the pin may be securely fastened to these loops.

The above-described construction provides two separate eye portions, which may be pinned on a garment in any desired position one relative to the other and the part 3 then grasped by the fingers at the shoulders c in the two sides thereof, the latter being pressed together to separate the two semicircular por tions of the eye (Z, which in its open position may then be presented to the eye I) in the part 2 and allowed to snap together in engaging position, whereby a very secure fastening device for a garment or blanket is provided, the parts of which may be easily disengaged when necessary or readily shifted from one position to another.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-

1. A garment-hook comprising a safety-pin 5 With an eye formed in the back portion thereof, and another portion comprising a pair of sister hooks formed in the extremities of a piece of wire, there being loops in the Wire between said extremities, together With a I0 safety pin having its back portion passed through said loops and engaging the latter.

2. A fastening device consisting of a pair of sister hooks made of one piece of wire, there being tWo loops formed in the Wire below the hooks proper and one on each side of 5 the latter; a safety-pin made of one piece of Wire, the back of which is Woven through said loops to permanently secure the pin therein.
