Be it known that I, Anania GERRY HerinnsTEIN, a citizen or' the United States, residing at New Haven, in the county oi' New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented or discovered certain new and useful Improvements in Steam-Boilers, of which improvements the following is a specification.
The invention described herein relates to certain improvements in water-tube boilers, the improvements being more especially applicable for small boilers.
The invention has for its object a construction wherein the circulating system consists oi two water-chambers formed by headers at the front or' the boiler divided into two chambers which are connected by cross-tubes arranged in three series, Aone series feeding to two of the series, or vice versa, an elevated drinn connected to the headers, downtakes at the ends of the drum adapted to support the same and connected by tubes forming water-walls to short sections of tubes connected in turn to an equalizing-boX for the headers.
The invention is hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

In the practice orl my invention the headers lare connected at the lower ends by a distributing or equalizing box 39, which is supported by water-legs 40 at its ends. The headers are divided transversely either by partition-diaphragm 4: or by forming them in two sections, as shown and described in application, Serial No. 159,684,1iled June l, 1903. The lower w aterchambers or sections of head ers are connected to the outer ends of a series of tubes 5, whose .inner or rear ends are connected to junction-boxes These liunctionboxes are also connected to the rear ends oi two series of tubes 7 and 8, having their front ends connected to the upper water-chambers or sections of headers above the diaphragm Lt.
This arrangement or' the tubes may be reversed, as shown and described in the application referred to. The Lipper water-chambers or ends of the headers are connected by cross-tubes l1 to the Lipper drum 12, which is supported by downtake-pipes 13 at each end. The lower ends of these,downtake-pipes are connected by tubes 20 to the water-legs 40, said tubes so arranged and connected to the downtakes and water-legs that they will contact with each other and form practically tight water-walls for the sides of the furnace or fire-box. In this construction the circulation will be as follows: Starting `t'rom the water-legs and the equalizing-box 39 it will flow through the lower portions of the headers along the series of tubes 5, thence along both series of tubes 7 and 8 to the upper headers. From these headers the water will flow by the pipes 1l into the drum 12 and thence down through the downtakes along the water-walls to the water-legs and equalizingbox, completing the loop.
It will be observed that the tubular columns 13 will securely support the drum 12, to which the upper ends of the headers are tied by the tubes 11. The lower ends oi'l the headers are secured to the equalizing-box, which is tied to the lower ends of the columnar downtakes by the water-walls- Within this rigid irame the series of tubes 5, 7, and 8 are :free to expand and contract, their rear ends being merely supported on the rear wall ot' the lire-box.

Water-Walls forming the sides of the fire-box IO lar columns supporting the drum and serving as downtakes, and Water-Walls connecting the downtakes and Water-legs, substantially as Set forth.
