GAME APPARATUS.
SFEGIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 745,865, d t d D b 1, l 903.

'[0 aZZ w/wm it may concern.-
To put my invention into practice, I provide Be it known that I, HENRY CARL KRAMER, I an oblong board, the one end of which is cira citizen of the United States of America, residing at East Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in game apparatus, and has for its object to provide a game whereby a considerable amount of skill will be required to play the same; and another object of the invention is to provide a game whereby considerable amusement will be derived from the same.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a game which will be readily understood by the player and one which will be extremely simple to manufacture and easily manipulated by the players participating in the game.
Briefly described, my improved game consists of providing an oblong board around which is secured a wire mesh, the front end of said boad having a stock or shield secured thereto, and near the rear end of said board I provide two upwardly-extendin g arms, between which is pivoted the platform, having connected thereto a pendulum, and upon the platform is adapted to be positioned a figure of any described character. Adjacent to this platform and preferably in front thereof I secure a loop, the ends of said loop being countersunk in the base of the board, one end of said loop being in alinement with the pendulum carried by the platform, while the other end thereof is secured in such a position as access may be had to the loop by a ball with which the game is played. I employ a one, which is adapted to be used by the players when it is desired to play the game.
In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and wherein like numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout th e several views, in which- Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of the game-board. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail view of the elevated platform, and Fig. 4: is a view of the cue.
cular, as indicated at 1, and secured to the edges of said board by any desired means is a wire mesh 2, which is adapted to be secured to the side of the board and project upwardly at an angle of forty-five degrees to the plane of the board, said mesh near the front end of the board having its upper edge cut away, whereby a gradual descent to the front end is accomplished, as illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings. To protect the top edge of the mesh and present a smooth edge thereto, I cover the same with some stiff material, said material being riveted or sewed to the mesh, as it may be desired. To the front end of the board 3 I secure a stop or shield 4:,which is adapted to project slightly above the board and prevent the ball 5 from leaving the same. Centrally of said board and near the rear end thereof I mount the standards 6 and 7, which have their upper ends bent inwardly, forming an axis 8, upon which is journaled the platform 9, and secured to the lower face of said platform is a pendulum, carrying upon its lower end a weight 11. Mounted adjacent to the elevated platform 9 and preferably in the center of the board I provide a loop which is secured to the base of the board, the ends of said loop being countersunk, as indicated at 12, the one end 14 of the loop 15 being in alinement with the weight 11, carried by the pendulum 10, while the other end of the loop is adapted to lie at a plane without the bodyportion of the loop, as indicated at 15, whereby access may be had to the loop and the outlet, as indicated at 14. The ball or shot 5 of small diameter is adapted to be used by the player, and in manipulating or handling the ball a one 16 is employed, said cue consisting of a rod carrying upon its lower end a block 18, which is preferably square in shape and formed of any hard material, whereby the surfaces of the point of the one will have very little wear upon the same.
Then it is desired to play the game, the figure or character is placed upon the. elevated plat-form 9, and in the drawings I have illustrated the figure as indicated by reference-numeral 19, said figure being of any described character as preferred by the participants in the game. The ball 5 is then placed at the front end of the board, as illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings, and in alinement with the end 15 of the loop. The player then uses the cue 16 and striking the ball forces the same around the loop, and upon the ball leaving the loop the same is supposed to strike the weight 11 of the pendulum 10, whereby the platform 9 will be tilted, causing the figure or object to fall therefrom.
\V'hile I have shown and described a wire mesh surrounding a portion of the board, I may employ a suitable fine fabric which may be supported upon the sides of the board, whereby if the ball should leave its path of travel around the loop it' will be caught and prevented from leaving the board. It is also obvious that I may employ any desired size of ball to circle or loop the loop, said ball being of such diameter as when the same has circled the loop it will strike the weight carried by the pendulum and remove the figure or object from the elevated platform. It will also be noted that I may enlarge the general plan of the game whereby the ordinary billiard-ball may be used and a convenient sized cue employed for manipulating the same.
It will be obvio us thatvarious slight changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of my invention.
Having fully. described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a game apparatus of the character described, the combination with a board, a surrounding mesh forming an an gularly-disposed wall around the board and being reduced at the front end of said board, a shield mounted at the reduced end of the mesh, standards mounted centrally of the board having inwardly-bent ends forming an axis, a platform journaled on said axis, a pendulum having a Weight at its lower end mounted in said platform, a loop having its ends countersunk in the board, one of said ends being in alinement with the weight, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
HENRY CARL KRAMER.
