IMPROVEMENT IN TABLE AND HOLDER FOR SHEARING SHEEP.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 58,991, dated October 23, 1866.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, A. M. (JULVER, of Bed ford, in the county of (Juyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sheep-Holders forShearinglurposes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and complete description of the constructien and operation of the same, reference heing had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a top view. Fig. 2 is an end view, and Figs. 3 and 4 are side views.
Like letters refer to like parts.
My invention consists in devices for securing and holding sheep while being sheared upon a convenient table, the device for holding allowing the sheep to be rolled or turned in either direction.
A A A represent the frame of the machine, and B the table upon which the sheep rests while being sheared. The posts A A rise above the table, which is situated between them. Upon each of these there is an arm,
0 O, projectinginward,upon which the shackle 1) turns. The shackles I) are provided with straps for securing the feet of the animal, and are fitted upon the round tenon, upon which they turn.
The arm 0' is made adjustable in the post A by means of a pawl and ratchet, a b, as seen in Figs. 3 and 4, by which the distance be tween the shackles is increased or diminished to suit the size of different animals.
When an animal is secured, as shown in Fig. 1, it can be rolled over to the right or left at pleasure.
\Vhat I claim as my improvement, and dc sire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
lhe table B, arms 0 O, pawl and ratchet a b, and shackle D, constructed and arranged as and for the purpose specified.
