HINGE FOR MOLDERS FLASKS.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 508,983, dated November 21, 1893.

.To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, JULIUS ROST,.a citizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wiscohsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hinges for Molders Flasks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to figures of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification, in whichthis class which will be simple in construction, durable in use, comparatively inexpensive of production and which when applied will prevent the splitting of the flask atthose points atwhich it is secured.

With these objects in view the invention consists in certain features ofconstrnction and combination of parts, which will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

- In the drawings, 1 denotes the sides of a molders flask and 2 the hinge.

The hinge consists of two straps 2 and 3 united by a pivot bolt or pintle 4. .Each strap has projecting from its edge ears 5 formed with screw holes 6. The cars of each strap are projected from each of its edges and are arranged at different distances from the pivot bolt. In position there are two hinges for each corner as shown in Fig. 1, one atthe lower edge, and,

From the foregoingdescription taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the operation and advantages of myinvention will be apparent. It will be noticed that I secure a strong and durable hinge which may be secured in operative position without the least danger of splitting the flask thus overcoming a series of drawbacks heretofore existing.

, Although I have shown my invention as applied to molders flasks I would have it understood that I contemplate employing it for any other purpose to which it may be adapted. 7

Having thus described my invention, what I claim,'and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-

A hinge consisting of two straps pivoted together at their ends and provided with screw holes, each of said straps having an ear projecting from its opposite edges in the same direction and at different points from its ends and formed withscrew holes, substantially as herein described.
