IMPLEMENT FOR CUTTING GRASS.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 488,667, dated December 27, 1892.

To all whom it may ooncerm' Be it known that I, CHARLES STEWART, a citizen of the United States, residing at Washington city, District of Columbia, have invented a new and useful Implementfor Outting Grass, Grain, Weeds, &c., of which the following isa specification.

In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the handle and blade. Fig. 2 is plan view of the blade;

Myimprovement consists of a curved blade, or cutter, A shown in perspective in the ac oompanying drawings, attached to the straight handle B, the plane of the blade being at right angles with said handle, which is provided with adjustable, or sliding, rubber grips O, C. These rubber grips are provided for the purpose of giving the hands a betterpurchase on the handle, and also to obviate the necessity The improvements I claim in a scythe are The combination of a straight handle provided with rubber grips capable of sliding upon the handle, and a curved blade set in a plane at right angles to the plane of the handle substantially as described in the drawings and specification.
