Abstract
An elevator system including a plurality of elevator cars, and a system processor for dispatching the elevator cars. The system processor provides floor address and address interpretation signals for the cars, which signals select whether or not a car is able to answer a corridor call, and when it is, the signals determine whether the car will consider only a corridor call from the addressed floor, or a predetermined family of calls using the addressed floor as a reference.

Claims (9)
1. An elevator system for a structure having a plurality of landings, comprising: a plurality of elevator cars, means mounting said plurality of elevator cars for movement relative to the landings, call registering means for registering calls for elevator service from at least certain of the landings, car control means operable for moving each of the elevator cars in response to calls for elevator service, and system control means for controlling the elevator cars by providing inhibiting signals which prevent the car control means of at least certain of the elevator cars from considering certain calls for elevator service, said system control means being operable to select an inhibit mode which enables selected car control means to consider a predetermined family of calls with reference to a landing of the structure while inhibiting the car control means from considering calls from the remaining landings, with the reference landing being selectable by said system control means.
2. The elevator system of claim 1 wherein the family of calls selected by the system control means includes a call for service in a predetermined direction from the selected reference landing and all calls for service in the same direction from the landings which are located on a selected side of the reference landing.
3. The elevator system of claim 1 wherein the system control means is operable to select an inhibit mode which enables a selected car control means to consider a call from only the reference landing, inhibiting calls from the remaining landings.
4. The elevator system of claim 3 wherein the system control means is operable to select a call for service in a predetermined direction from the reference landing.
5. The elevator system of claim 1 wherein the system control means is operable to select an inhibit mode which prevents a selected car control means from considering any calls for service from the call registering means.
6. The elevator system of claim 1 wherein the system control means is operable to select an inhibit mode which inhibits all calls from being considered by a selected car control means, and an inhibit mode which inhibits all calls from being considered by a selected car control means except for a call for service in a predetermined direction from a selected reference landing.
7. The elevator system of claim 1 wherein the landings to be served are assigned different addresses and the system control means is programmable, including memory means, and wherein at least certain of the car control means each include an assignment register connected to receive a landing address from the memory of the system processor, comparator means connected to the assignment register, scan counter means connected to said comparator means which successively outputs the addresses of the landings, and logic means connected to said comparator means, said system control means providing the address of a selected landing for the assignment register of a selected car control means, and signals for the logic means which select the family of calls to be considered by the car control means with reference to the addressed landing.
8. The elevator system of claim 7 wherein the Signals provided by the system control means for the logic means of a selected car control include a service direction signal wherein the predetermined family of calls considered by the car control means are all calls for service in the selected service direction.
9. The elevator system of claim 1 including memory means which, when enabled, provides inhibit signals for predetermined landings which inhibit the car control means for at least one of the elevator cars from considering calls from the predetermined landings, and wherein the system control means is operable to select an inhibit mode which enables said memory means.
