Abstract
A sleeve of pliable material removably covers the elbow of one arm of a golfer. A magnet is provided on the sleeve in the area of the lower end thereof. An arm member is pivotally affixed at one end to the sleeve in the area of the upper end thereof. The arm member has a piece of metal at the other end thereof whereby when the arm is straight the magnet holds the arm member adjacent the arm and when the elbow is bent the arm member falls away from the arm to indicate to the golfer that he has bent his arm. An audible indication may be provided from a loop member which encircles the arm member and is secured to the sleeve. The loop member is adapted to produce a noise when struck by the falling arm member and restrains the arm member from further movement.

Objects of the invention are to provide a golfers training device of simple structure, which is inexpensive in manufacture, is applied and removed with facility and convenience and functions efficiently, effectively and reliably to indicate to a golfer when he bends his arm.
The purpose of the golfers training device of the invention is to help a golfer improve his swing during practice. It is very important that right-handed golfers maintain a straight left arm all through the back swing, especially at the top, where it has a tendency to bend. Similarly, a left-handed golfer should maintain a straight right arm all through the back swing. The training device of the invention indicates immediately when the golfer bends his arm, but does not restrict the follow through.
In order that the invention may be readily carried into effect, it will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein:
FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of an embodiment of the golfers training device of the invention in use during a swing;
FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram of the embodiment of FIG. 1 on a golfers arm;
FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram of the embodiment of FIG. 1 in operation when the arm is bent;
FIG. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view of the embodiment of FIG. 1; and
FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view, taken along the lines VV, of FIG. 3.
In the FIGS, the same components are identified by the same reference numerals.
The golfers training device of the invention comprises a sleeve 1 of pliable material removably covering the elbow of one arm 2 of a golfer 3 (FIGS. 1 and 2).
A magnet 4 (FIGS. 2, 3 and 4) is provided on the sleeve 1 in the area of the lower end 5 of said sleeve.
An arm member 6 is pivotally affixed at one end 7 to the sleeve 1 in the area of the upper end 8 of the sleeve. The arm member 6 has a piece of metal 9 at the other end 10 thereof. Thus, whenn the arm 2 is straight, the magnet 4 holds the arm member 6 adjacent the arm, as shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 4. When the elbow of the arm 2 is bent, the arm member 6 falls away from the arm to indicate to the golfer that he has bent his arm, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 5.
A loop member 11 (FIGS. 3 and 5) is affixed to the sleeve 1 and surrounds the arm member 6 in a manner whereby when the arm member falls away from the arm 2 it strikes the loop member 11 to produce a noise to indicate to the golfer 3 that he has bent his arm and re strains the arm member from further movement.
While the invention has been described by means of a specific example and in a specific embodiment. I do not wish to be limited thereto, for obvious modifications will occur to those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
I claim:
1. A golfers training device, comprising a sleeve of pliable material adapted to cover the elbow of one arm of a golfer;
a magnet on the sleeve in the area of the lower end thereof; and
an arm member pivotally affixed at one end to the sleeve in the area of the upper end thereof and having a piece of metal at the other end of the arm member, whereby when the arm is straight the magnet holds the arm member adjacent the arm and when the elbow is bent the arm member falls away from the arm to indicate to the golfer that he has bent his arm.
2. A golfers training device as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a loop member affixed to the sleeve and surrounding the arm member in a manner whereby when the arm member falls away from the arm it strikes the loop member to produce a noise to indicate to the golfer that he has bent his arm and restrains the arm member from further movement.
Claims (2)
1. A golfer''s training device, comprising a sleeve of pliable material adapted to cover the elbow of one arm of a golfer; a magnet on the sleeve in the area of the lower end thereof; and an arm member pivotally affixed at one end to the sleeve in the area of the upper end thereof and having a piece of metal at the other end of the arm member, whereby when the arm is straight the magnet holds the arm member adjacent the arm and when the elbow is bent the arm member falls away from the arm to indicate to the golfer that he has bent his arm.
2. A golfer''s training device as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a loop member affixed to the sleeve and surrounding the arm member in a manner whereby when the arm member falls away from the arm it strikes the loop member to produce a noise to indicate to the golfer that he has bent his arm and restrains the arm member from further movement.
