UNlTED STATES PATENTS 256,296 4/1882 Currier.....-. 312/305 UX 4 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures DISPLAY CABINET BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to revolving display cases for viewing merchandise from different angles. In the prior art it has been common to provide rotating display cases in which a center post is provided through the center of the case providing an axis about which the same revolves. Turning of the case is had by rotating the post which can either be operated by motor as illustrated in the Wood US. Pat. No. 2,673,778 or alternately the center post may protrude through the top wall of the display cabinet and be engaged manually to rotate the display case. In forms such as this it becomes impractical to stack the display cases one upon the other since access to the lower post of the lowermost case cannot be readily had and also the security of the display cases utilized before has left something to be desired since in many cases they may be readily broken apart and the merchandise shoplifted. In addition heretofore the entire display case lends itself to be readily transported away, without ready provision for anchoring the same to the counter.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a rectangular or polygonal turntable display cabinet in which the four side walls thereof are transparent. The bottom wall is of a rigid structure upon which is mounted a rotatable turntable. The turntable in turn has mounted thereon a structure in the form of a display means which in one of the preferred forms consists of a box-like framework having storage shelves therein and onto the face of this structure may be removably mounted display panels for displaying articles of jewelry or the like. The cabinet itself has a top wall that encloses all of the display structure and this top wall is welded to the side walls so as to make an integral structure. One of the side walls has a door therein to provide access into the interior of the cabinet which door has a hasp that will accept a padlock for securing the same and guarding the contents of the cabinet against pilferage. The bottom wall of the cabinet can be attached to a counter as by a chain. The
- cabinet is preferably provided with legs which have a recess in the end thereof such that they may be received over protruding knobs that are on the top wall of the cabinet. This allows the cabinets to be stacked one upon the other. Ease in viewing the entire material by the customer is provided as the turntable platform extends through slots in the side walls of the cabinet and, therefore, may be easily contacted by the palm of a hand so that the display material may be rotated;
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is an elevational view of a display case embodying our invention with the display panels in place;
FIG. 2 is a sectional view with one of the display panels removed illustrating the interior of the unit;
FIG. 3 is a sectional view taken on lines 3-3 of FIG. 1; and
FIG. 4 is a partial elevational view of two of the display cabinets nested one upon the other with parts broken away for clarity.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring to FIGS. 1 and 3, designates the base and 11 through 13 designate the side walls of the cabi-- 7 door 14 complete the enclosure. The portions and 21 are also welded or adhesively secured to the side walls which they abut so that in effect an entire integral unit is provided. Each of the wall sections and door are preferably transparent so that viewing of the merchandise may be readily had. The door 14 is in effect a wall that is hingedly secured by hinges 23 to the portion 20 and has a hasp 24 with a keeper 25 that is secured to the portion 21 and to the door 14. In this way a small padlock may be inserted through the hasp 25 to main tain security of the contents within although access may be readily had within the wall cabinet structure.
Upon the bottom wall 10 there is mountd a turntable platform 28. The mounting comprises a pair of plates 29 fixed to the platform 28 and 30 fixed to the base 10 which are provided with circular facing raceways, and in these raceways are a number of anti-friction elements such as balls 33. In this fashion the plates 29, 30 may revolve relative to each other with freedom. The platform 28 is of a diameter greater than the rectangular dimensions of the bottom wall 10 so that the turntable platform extends through slots in the side walls 11 through 13, which slots are designated through 37 and outwardly beneath the door 14 as at 38 (FIG. 3). Upon the turntable platform 28 there is received a display means in the form of a square structure made from four corner posts 40, 41, 42 and 43, and between these corner posts there is located a intermediate shelf means 45, a bottom shelf 46, and a top 47. Product identity or advertising means 60 is located on the top 47 comprising four plaques 61 mounted on a base 65 which may slide into guideways 66. Display pads for jewelry are mounted on the outside of this structure,
and to this end headed pins such as 50 are provided extending into the corner posts, and the pads generally designated 52 are shown as three superimposed and mounted on a rear wall or panel such as 54 which is provided with keyhole apertures 55 at four rectangularly arranged locations that allow the panel to be re movably hooked on the four pins 50. In this way not only can the display be changed readily, but also one of the displays may be removed to provide access into the interior of the display means where merchandise may be stored as on the shelves 45, 46.
For supporting the structure legs 62 may be fastened to the bottom wall 10, which legs have recesses 63 opening toward their open end. The recesses 63 are of a size to fit about locating means such as the balls 64 that are fastened to the top wall 17. As will be seen more particularly by referring to FIG. 4, this permits tom wall and said platform protruding through said 3. A turntable display as in claim 1. wherein said panel is provided .with a plurality of horizontal superimposed shoulders on which display pads are mounted.
4. A turntable display as in claim l wherein said detachable mounting means comprises headed pins on said posts and keyhole apertures in said panel for hooking said panel on said posts.

Claims (4)

1. A turntable display comprising a cabinet having transparent side walls, a top wall and a bottom wall, a turntable platform rotatably mounted on the bottom wall, said side walls having an opening adjacent the bottom wall and said platform protruding through said opening, display means mounted on said platform comprising upright posts, a panel having a display pad thereon, and means for detachably mounting said panel on said posts.
2. A turntable display as in claim 1 wherein the platform carries a shelf exposed by the removal of said panel for storage of displayed articles.
3. A turntable display as in claim 1 wherein said panel is provided with a plurality of horizontal superimposed shoulders on which display pads are mounted.
4. A turntable display as in claim 1 wherein said detachable mounting means comprises headed pins on said posts and keyhole apertures in said panel for hooking said panel on said posts.
