  • the present invention concerns an improved dispensing apparatus for discharging liquid or creamy products this apparatus being of the kind comprising a container and a pump housing arranged at the discharge end, the said pump housing having an internal through passage in which are disposed two valves delimiting between them an intermediate valve chamber being in constant communication with the interior of a resilient pressure ball which is provided on the pump housing and adapted, when compressed, i.e., when a positive pressure is generated therein, to close the valve positioned adjacent the discharge end of the container and open the valve positioned adjacent the discharge end of the through passage, and the reverse at the occurrence of a negative pressure in the pressure bulb.
  • the dispensing apparatus in accordance with the invention is characterized in that at its discharge end, the container is formed with a neck portion in which the pump housing is arranged that the pressure bulb is formed through a swelling of the neck portion and that the container with its neck portion and pressure bulb is manufactured in one piece from non-rigid plastic of rubber materials.
  • a disposable dispensing apparatus Owing to the low manufacturing costs of producing an apparatus of this kind a disposable dispensing apparatus. is provided which is extremely hygienic and may be used to dispense products of various kinds. For domestic uses may be mentioned products such as mustard, liquid soaps, hair schampoos and the like. In the treatment of illnesses, such as eye diseases, the apparatus in accordance with the invention is highly suitable for feeding out liquids for eye baths. In this instance, the discharge opening ispreferably shaped as bowl adapted to be pressed against the eye ball. Since the apparatus with its container may be delivered completely sterilized and sealed, it is very useful also for other medical purposes. Because of certain predetermined quantity is dispensed at each compression of the pressure bulb it is also possible to provide for metering of the container contents, such as for instance in dosing of medicines.
  • FIG. 1 is a lateral view of the apparatus in accordance with the invention
  • FIG. 2 is a longitudinal section, shown in a larger scale, of the lower portion of the apparatus,
  • FIG. 3 is a section through the apparatus along line III-III of FIG. 2, and
  • FIG. 4 is an exploded view of the lower portion of the apparatus.
  • the apparatus consists of a container 1 having a neck portion 2 formed at the discharge end.
  • the neck portion is in turn formed with a pressure bulb 3.
  • a pump housing 4 In the neck portion 2 is formed a pump housing 4 such that the discharge end 5 thereof extends beyond the neck 2.
  • FIG. 1 also shows that the container 1 is closed in air-tight manner.
  • the longitudinal section in accordance with FIG. 2 clearly illustrates the manner in which the pump housing 4 is mounted in the neck portion 2 of the container 1.
  • the neck 2 is provided with a circumferentially extending peripheral groove 6 in which engages a flange or head 7 arranged along the circumference of the pump housing 4.

  • a notch 9' formed at the lower edge 9 of the neck 2 is provided in whichnotch engagesa lip 10 on the pump housing 4.
  • the pump housing 4 is provided with a through passage 11 in which are disposed two valves 12 and 13. They define: between them an intermediate valve chamber 14 which is in constant communication with the interior of the pressure bulb 3 through the communication channel 8.
  • the valves 12 and 13 are formed from a tubular body 15, 16 (see also FIG. 4) which is provided with a funnel-shaped rim 17, 18 of a resilient material and so directed that in their position of rest the valves l2, 13 close off valve chamber 14 from the rest of the through passage 11.
  • the radial guidanceof the valves 12, 13 is obtained by means of a guide shaft 19 which is positioned in the through passage 11 and extends through the tubular bodies 15, 16 of the valves.
  • the guide shaft is positioned in the through passage 11 and extends through the tubular bodies 15, 16 of the valves.
  • the guide shaft 19 is provided at its lower end with a tripod 20 resting against a shoulder 21 in the through passage 11.
  • the shoulder is formed through the stepwise tapering of the through passage 11 towards its discharge end 33.
  • the upper end of the guide shaft 19 abuts against a stop plate 22 which is inserted into the upper end of the pump housing 4 and provided with a diametrically positioned stop pin 23 (see FIG. 3) against which the guide shaft 19 abuts.
  • a supporting sleeve 24 is inserted between the stop plate 22 and the upper valve 12 whereby a support is provided protecting the valve rim 17 when an abnormal pressure is exerted.
  • the pressure bulb 3 is provided with a reinforcing bead 25 facilitating the return movement of the pressure bulb 3 after compression of the latter whereby is ensured the negative pressure necessary for the functioning of the apparatus (as will be described in the following).
  • FIGS. 2, 3 and 4 also illustrate one embodiment of an attachment means for fastening the apparatus on a wall or the like.
