5 Claims, 1 Drawing Figure MOUNTING FOR THE VERTICAL HOOK OF A JACQUARD MECHANISM The present invention relates to improvements in the mounting of a vertical hook of a jacquard mechanism particularly adapted for use with warp knitting machines.
A jacquard mechanism of a conventional type is described, for instance, in Kettenwirkmaschine (warp knitting machine) by E. Michael, Konradinverlag, Germany, 1952, Second Edition, pages ll8-l2l. In such mechanisms, the upper ends of the vertical hooks are held in their rest position by guide rails while their lower spring-like bent ends come to rest on a mounting board when the upper ends are displaced from the guide rails by the transversely extending needles in accordance with the program of an endless chain of suitably punched cards. The vertical downward movement of the vertical hooks against the mounting board is rather vigorous, which leads to wear in the seats of the vertical hook ends in the mounting board after a certain time of operation. This causes inaccuracies in the operation and requires a rather frequent, timeconsuming replacement of the mounting board in the mechanism. This wear is further increased by the movement of the connecting wires and their attachment hooks in the guide holes of the mounting board, which wires attach the bent ends of the vertical hooks to the harness cords.
It is the primary object of this invention to overcome this disadvantage and reduce the .wear on the guide holes in the mounting board.
. The above and otherobjects are accomplished in accordance with the invention by a mount, preferably of synthetic resin, wherein the bent 'endof the vertical hook is embedded, with the harness cordbeing attached to the mount. 1
' Even a relatively hard. impact of the mount on the mounting board produces little wear in view of the planar contact between the mount and the upper surface of the mounting board.
In a preferred embodiment, the mount has a guide pin fitting into a guide hole in the mounting board and extending therethrough, with a shoulder of the mount engaging the upper mounting board surface. Since the fit may be accurately machined, the wear will be minimal even where the harness cord is laterally deflected from the mount, the cord being preferably attached to an eye at the outer end of the mount guide pin.
The entire mount my be cheaply made in one piece from a suitable synthetic resin and may be readily assembled on the mounting board.
A preferred embodiment of the present invention is illustrated in the single FIGURE of the accompanying drawing showing a mount according to this invention in vertical cross section.
In the drawing, the vertical jacquard mechanism hook I is shown to comprise a spring-like bent end 2 embedded in synthetic resin mount 3. The illustrated mount has a support shoulder 4 engaging the upper surface of mounting board 6 and a guide pin 7 received in and extending through a hole in the mounting board, the pin fitting in the hole. The guide pin 7 has an eye 8 at the lower end thereof for attachment of the harness cord 9 thereto.
The mounting board 6 is vertically reciprocable in a known manner, the length of the guide pin 7 extending below the mounting board being equal to, or exceeding, the reciprocating stroke of the board.
I claim:
1. In a jacquard mechanism:
1. a mounting board,
2. a vertical hook upwardly extending from the mounting board, a. the hook having a spring-like bent end adjacent the board,
3. a mount wherein the bent end of the hook is embedded, and i 4. a harness cord attached to the mount.
2. In the jacquard mechanism of claim 1, themount being of synthetic resin. i v
3. In the jacquard mechanism of claim 1, the mount ing board having a hole receiving a portion of the mount and the mounthaving a shoulder engaging the upper surface of the mounting board.
4. In the jacquard mechanism of claim 3, the mount portion being constituted by a guide pin fitting into the hole and extending therethrough.
5. In the jacquard mechanism of claim 4, the guide pin having an eye at a lower end thereof for attachment of the harness cord thereto.

Claims (12)

1. In a jacquard mechanism:
1. A MOUNTING BOARD,
2. A VERTICAL HOOK UPWARDLY EXTENDING FROM THE MOUNTING BOARD, A. THE HOOK HAVING A SPRING-LIKE BENT END ADJACENT THE BOARD,
2. In the jacquard mechanism of claim 1, the mount being of synthetic resin.
2. A VERTICAL HOOK UPWARDLY EXTENDING FROM THE MOUNTING BOARD, A. THE HOOK HAVING A SPRING-LIKE BENT END ADJACENT THE BOARD,
3. A MOUNT WHEREIN THE BENT END OF THE HOOK IS EMBEDDED, AND
3. In the jacquard mechanism of claim 1, the mounting board having a hole receiving a portion of the mount and the mount having a shoulder engaging the upper surface of the mounting board.

4. A HARNESS CORD ATTACHED TO THE MOUNT.
4. In the jacquard mechanism of claim 3, the mount portion being constituted by a guide pin fitting into the hole and extending therethrough.

5. In the jacquard mechanism of claim 4, the guide pin having an eye at a lower end thereof for attachment of the harness cord thereto.
