IMPRYQVED-CORKSCREW.
Specification forming part of Leiters Patent No. 35,362, dated May 27,' 1862.
To all whom it may concern.-
Beit known that l, CHARLES CHINNooK, of Brooklyn, inKings county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Me-l chanical Device for Drawing Corks; and I do hereby declare that the followingl is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

This invention is a simplification of all meehanicalcorkscrews, doing away with all combination screws, pinions, levers, or cams and using only the screw whichpierces the cork as the power for lifting it.
When used, the frame a is placed on the top of the bottle, the shank and screw b is pressed down to enter the cork, and the crank dis then turned around, forcing the screw into the cork till the shoulder c strikes the top of the frame a. As the downward motion of the screw b is then stopped, the cork rises onl the screw till it is drawn, as in Fig. 2.
That I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-'- l The combination of the frame a with the screw b and shoulder c, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
