CANN TOILET TISSUE HOLDER AND BOWL BRUSH Filed April 17, 1967 R W W United States Patent 3,429,474 TOILET TISSUE HOLDER AND BOWL BRUSH James Roosevelt Cann, 102-39 185th St., Hollis, N.Y. 11423 Filed Apr. 17, 1967, Ser. No. 631,239 US. Cl. 220- Int. Cl. B65d 1/24; A4511 44/18; A47g 17/00 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates generally to containers. More specifically it relates to containers for holding toilet tissue and toilet bowl brushes.
A principal object of the present invention is to provide a toilet tissue holder and bowl brush which comprises a singular unit for containing both, a plurality of rolls of toilet tissue and a toilet bowl brush.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a toilet tissue holder and bowl brush which is designed to be conveniently fitted into a corner of a bathroom or adjacent a toilet fixture.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a toilet tissue holder and bowl brush which is readily adaptable for use in the home, ofiice or factory.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a toilet tissue holder and bowl brush which can be readily made in any color or ornamentation so as to harmonize with the decor of the bathroom.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a toilet tissue holder and bowl brush which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a.
study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of the present invention,
interior compartments 12 and 13 which are enclosed by cover elements 14 and 15 respectively.
The container element 11 may be formed from a plastic material preferably and which is moulded in one piece and attractively colored or ornamented. The container element 11 includes a bottom wall 16 of generally L- shaped configuration and upon a portion of which there Patented Feb. 25, 1969 is an enclosure 17 that contains the compartment 12 therewithin and an enclosure 18 which contains the compartment 13 therewithin. The enclosure 17 includes a plurality of upstanding side walls 19, 20 and 21 which form a square configurated compartment 12 within which a toilet bowl brush 22 may be kept.
The toilet bowl brush 22 includes an elongated handle 23 and a brush head 24 at one end thereof. The upper end of the enclosure 17 is provided with a peripheral groove 25 which forms a seat into which the cover 14 may be received. The cover 14 has a notch 26 formed along one side thereof for purpose of allowing the brush handle 23 to protrude therethrough as shown in FIG- URES 1 and 2 of the drawing.
The enclosure 18 includes a pair of upstanding Walls 27 which together with the walls 20 and 21 form a square configurated enclosure into which a plurality of toilet tissue rolls 28 may be piled and stored. The upper end of the enclosure 18 is provided with an opening for purpose of withdrawing the toilet tissue rolls from the compartment 13, the opening being enclosed by the cover 15. The cover 15 includes a flat top panel 29 having a downward extending flange 30 around the edges thereof, the flange 30 being fitted over the upper end of the enclosure 18. A handle 31 is integrally moulded into the cover 15 and provides easy removal of the cover for gaining access to the rolls of toilet tissue.
In operative use, a plurality of toilet tissue rolls 28 are stored within the compartment 13 and when it is desired that one be removed therefrom, the cover 15 is lifted from the top of the enclosure 18 thereby permitting access thereto. When it is desired to clean the toilet bowl,
the brush handle 23 is pulled upwardly, the cover 14 removed from the enclosure 17 and the brush 22 then manually used for cleaning the bowl. It is to be understood that a. liquid cleaner may be contained within the compartment 12 it so preferred and into which the brush 22 may be dipped.
As shown in the drawing, the edge of the base or the bottom wall of the container element may be outwardly extended and downwardly tapered as shown. It may be provided additionally with a series of flutes 32 for purpose of attractive design.
While various changes may be made in the detailed construction it is understood that such changes will be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as is defined and the other of said enclosures forming an enclosure for a plurality of toilet tissue rolls, said container element comprising a bottom wall of L-shaped configuration, a. plurality of upstanding side walls extending upwardly from said bottom wall, some of said side walls forming said enclosure for containing said toilet bowl brush, and the other of said side walls forming said enclosure for said toilet tissue rolls, said side walls forming said toilet tissue rolls extending upwardly higher than the walls forming said toilet bowl brush enclosure, said container element including a wall between said enclosures, said wall having a height which is equal to the height of said toilet tissue roll enclosure, each of said enclosures being of generally square configuration, said enclosure for said toilet tissue rolls being relatively larger in cross section than said enclosure for said toilet bowl brush, and the peripheral edge of said bottom wall extending outwardly sideways beyond said side walls and being downwardly tapered, the upper edge of said toilet bowl brush enclosure being recessed to receive said cover, said cover being of square configuration and having a notch in one side edge thereof so to allow said toilet bowl brush to protrude therethrough.
