HIS ATTORNEY Dec. 23, 1969 LIQUOR BOTTLE REGISTERING MEANS AND METHOD Filed May 28, 1968 mbw United States Patent 3,484,976 LIQUOR BOTTLE REGISTERING MEANS AND METHOD John C. Shea, 19234 Chelton Drive, Birmingham, Mich. 48009 Filed May 28, 1968, Ser. No. 732,587 Int. Cl. C09f 3/00 U.S. Cl. 40-310 5 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Improvements for use in establishments in which liquor is sold by the glass are disclosed in comprising liquor bottle registering means and method, said liquor bottle registering means and method comprising sheet material constructed to be Written on its face and bearing printed information thereon, permanently attaching to a liquor bottle on the outside thereof an anchor part of said sheet material, supporting on said liquor bottle detachable parts of said sheet material by detachably connecting them to said anchor part so that they are free of direct attachment to said liquor bottle, individually detaching said detachable parts from said anchor part at different times corresponding to the entry of said liquor bottle into said establishment, its storage and movement therein and the consumption of its contents, and thereafter permanently attaching each detached part via an adhesive layer on the reverse side thereof to a page of a liquor bottle register so that the status history of each and every liquor bottle in respect to its entry into said establishment, its storage and movement therein and the consumption of its contents is thus disclosed by reference to the accumulation of detached parts in said liquor bottle register.
My invention relates to improvements for use in establishments in which liquor is sold by the glass.
The principal object of my invention is the provision of means and method for registering liquor bottles in said establishments so that at any time in any such establishment there can be readily determined the status history of each and every such liquor bottle including its entry into said establishment, its storage and movement therein and the consumption of its contents.
The foregoing object of my invention and the advantages thereof will become apparent during the course of the following description, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which FIGS. 1-4 are views of one embodiment of my invention; and FIGS. 57 are views of another embodiment of my invention.
Referring to the drawings in greater detail and first to FIGS. 1-4, designates a liquor bottle having affixed thereto liquor bottle registering means 12 embodying my invention which comprises sheet material divided into an anchor part 13 permanently attached to said liquor bottle 10 on the outside thereof and detachable parts 15 supported on said liquor bottle 10 but free of direct attachment thereto by being detachably connected to said anchor part 13. An adhesive layer 130 bonds the anchor part 13 to a side of said liquor bottle 10 against the most adverse conditions of use thereof. The parts 15 are individually detachable from said anchor part 13 by wellknown means, such as pie-scoring, indicated by the broken lines in FIG. 2. Each part 15 has an adhesive layer 15a on its reverse side which is covered by a peel-otf cover sheet 15b. The adhesive layer 15a bonds said part 15 to a page of a liquor bottle register as will be described. The anchor part 13 and the detachable parts 15 are made of well-known sheet material carrying printed information on its face and capable of being written thereupon under wet conditions.
3,484,976 Patented Dec. 23, 1969 ice The printed information preferably carried by the anchor part 13 includes space for the proprietors name, for the State serial number and for the proprietors serial number of the particular liquor bottle. The printed information preferably carried by each detachable part 15 includes space for the initials of authorized personnel of said establishment, for the location of the particular liquor bottle at the time of initialing of said part 15, and for the proprietors serial number. At the time of entry of any given liquor bottle into an establishment employing my liquor bottle registering means and method a liquor bottle registering means 12 is aflixed to said bottle 10 and a proprietors serial number is assigned thereto. The proprietors serial number is recorded on a page of a liquor bottle register of said establishment, on the anchor part 13 and on the detachable parts 15. Preferably the State serial number of the particular bottle is recorded on the anchor part 13 and on. the page of the liquor bottle register. The liquor bottle 10 is then placed in the liquor bottle storage room of said establishment. Upon its removal from its place of storage an authorized person of said establishment removes one of the detachable parts 15 from the anchor part 13, initials it, notes the location of said liquor bottle 10 and places the detach able part 15 in a cash register drawer. If the liquor bottle 10 is moved within said establishment to a diiferent location, e.g. to another liquor serving bar, an authorized person of said establishment removes another one of the detachable parts 15 from the anchor part 13, initials it, notes the new location of said liquor bottle 10 and places the detached part 15 in a cash register drawer. When the contents of said liquor bottle 10 are consumed an authorized person of said establishment removes another one of the detachable parts 15 from the anchor part 13, initials it, notes the emptying of the contents of said liquor bottle 10 and places the detached part 15 in a cash register drawer. After each days business the detached parts 15 accumulated in the cash register drawers are collected by an authorized person of said establishment who removes the cover sheets 15b and each detached part 15 is adhered in its place on the proper page of the liquor bottle register corresponding to the proprietors serial number for that particular bottle. The complete status history of each and every liquor bottle in said establishment is thus disclosed by reference to the liquor bottle register which holds in organized permanent form the accumulation of detached parts 15 for each liquor bottle.
Referring to FIGS. 5-7, the liquor bottle shown therein is designated 210 and has affixed thereto liquor bottle registering means 212 embodying my invention which comprises an anchor part 213 permanently attached to said liquor bottle 210, preferably on a side thereof as shown, and other parts 215 supported on said liquor bottle but free of direct attachment thereto by being detachably connected to said anchor part 213. An adhesive layer 213a bonds the anchor part 213 to the outside wall of said liquor bottle as in the case of the anchor part 13. The anchor part 213 carries on its front face individual detachable parts 215 which are each adhered to said anchor part 213 by a pressure sensitive adhesive layer 215a which also functions to adhere said part 215 to a page of a liquor bottle register. The anchor part 213 and the detachable parts 215 are made of the same material and bear the same printed information as the parts 13 and 15. The liquor bottle registering means 212 is employed in the same way as the liquor bottle registering means 12 except that whenever the status history of the respective liquor bottle is changed each detachable part 215 after removal from the anchor part 213 is adhered to an intermediate carrying card maintained in a cash register drawer. After each days business an authorized person of said establishment collects the intermediate carrying cards in the cash register drawers and transfers the accumulation of detached parts 215 therefrom to the liquor bottle register by adhering each detached part 215 in its place on the proper page of the liquor bottle register corresponding to the proprietors serial number for the particular bottle. The accumulation of detached parts 215 for each liquor bottle as held in organized permanent form in the liquor bottle register discloses the complete status history of each and every liquor bottle in said establishment.
It will thus be seen that there has been provided by my invention liquor bottle registering means and method in which the object hereinabove set forth together with many other thoroughly practical advantages has been successfully achieved. While preferred embodiments of my invention have been shown and described it is to he understood that variations and changes may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
