Description

(No Model.)
J. 0. OURRIER.
DISK GULTIVATOR. N0. 333,927. Patented Jan. 5, 1886.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN O. CURRIER, OF SANGERVILLE, MAINE, ASSIGNOR TO LEWIS E.
' GUBRIER, OF SAME PLACE.
DISK-CULTIVATOR.
SPECIFICATIQN forming part of Letters Patent No. 333,927, dated January 5, 1886.
Application filed July 22, 1885.
T0 at whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J. O. GURRIER, of Sangerville, in the county of Piscataquis' and State of Maine, have invented an Improved DiskOultivator, of which the following is a specification.
The special object of theinvention is to furnish the public with a horse-hoe or disk-plow cultivator, which can be conveniently haudled and adjusted by the workman or any person not a mechanical expert.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a plan View showing the general relation of the parts, their construction, and arrangement. Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing the pendent bearings for the disk-wheels and their connection with the adj ustingrods.
In the drawings, A represents the disk-cultivators, which are placed at the usual or desired obliquity to the line of draft, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings.
B B are hangers or pendent bearings, in which are journaled the bolts on which the disks turn. The hangers B B are attached at the top to a cross-bar, 0, having the slots 0 0, one near each end, and by the clamping-bolts 0', so that they may be adjusted to a greater or less distance apart to suit the width at which they are expected to cultivate.
D is the cultivator beam or tongue,on which is usually employed an evener, E, pivoted thereto.
Serial No.172296. (No modehl F F are the handles, which are fastened to the sides of beam D, and provided with the usual spacing round and iron brace.
G is an eyebolt, through whose aperture or eye pass the crossing'rodsH H. The latter have eyes at the rear ends, which joint with eyebolts b on the hangers B B, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. By loosening the clamps c G the rods H H are movable to correspond with the lateral adjustment of the disk-hangers B.
I am well aware that the parts of my cultivator are not separately new, but only my way 45 of combining and arranging the parts to form a convenient and useful implement; hence What I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is
In a disk-cultivator, the combination of a beam or tongue carrying eyebolts G, a crossbar, G, slotted near each end, hangers B B, carrying eyebolts b c, and brace-rods H H, hinged to eyebolts b,whereby the hangers and brace-rods may be correspondingly adjusted with the disks to regulate their distance apart or their obliquity, in the manner described.
JOHN O. OURRIER.
