ABSTRACT 0F THE DES CLGSURE An electrical dry shaver having a reciprocating cutting blade block which comprises a cutting hood mantel foil, a clamping body and a housing head, whereby the cutting head mantel foil is releasably secured in the housing head by means of the clam-ping body. The cutting blade block is resiliently pressed to the cutting hood mantel foil and the latter includes two pin-shaped holders disposed at diametrically opposite sides thereof and serves as its bearing means.
The present invention relates to improvements in electrical dry-shavers having a reciprocating cutting blade, in general, and to such electrical dry-shavers wherein the cutting blade resiliently engages a cutting hood foil mantel releasably secured by clamping means to a housing head.
Different means are known to secure a cutting hood mantel foil on the housing head of the shearing head of a dry-shaver. It is thus known, to provide two oppositely disposed cams on oppositely disposed longitudinal sides of the housing head, which cams extend into openings of the cutting hood mantel foil. It is possible in such embodiment to remove the cutting head mantel foil, for instance in case of damage or destruction and to exchange the latter by a new one, yet this securing means has the drawback, that the cutting hood mantel foil is connected at a few points with the housing head. It is also known, to secure the cutting hood mantel foil on the housing head by resting by means of rollers, which connecting means is comparatively expensive.
It is, therefore, one object of the present invention to provide an electrical dry-shaver, which avoids the drawbacks of the known structures, It is a drawback to con meet the cutting hood mantel foil practically rigidly with parts of the dry shaver. It can happen during use, that the cutting blade is separated from the cutting hood mantel, with the result that the shearing effect is re- U duced. This can occur, for instance such, that strong pressure is exerted on one side on the cutting hood mantel foil and the cutting blade. Since the cutting hood mantel toil is secured on the other side, a dislocation occurs, so that the mentioned lifting of the cutting hood mantel foil takes place.
It is another object of the present invention, to provide an electrical dry-shavcr, which avoids also the last mentioned drawbacks.
It is yet another object of the present invention to provide an electrical dry-shaver, wherein the cutting hood mantel. foil is secured by means of two 'pin'like holders disposed on diametrically opposite sides of the housing head and serving as bearing means. It is suitable thereby to design the clamping body like a frame and to arrange the latter as a rectangularly bent wire body, one side of which is received rotatably by a bearing of the housing body and the opposite other side of which cooperates with a rest means of the housing head.
Ap-preciable advantages result by this arrangement, in comparison with the known structures. Thus, at first, a
simple and fast connection of the cutting hood mantel foil with the housing head is possible, and, if required, also a fast removal of the cutting hood mantel foil from the housing head, so that for instance a destroyed cutting hood mantel foil can easily be exchanged by the user of the dry-shaver, without applying any tool. In addition, also the remarkable advantage is brought about, that the cutting hood mantle foil no more, as before, is gripped at a few points only by the clamping body, but over a larger area. It is to be added that by use of a clamping body for securing the cutting hood mantel foil, the provision of perforations within the range of the longitudinal sides can be omitted. The frame-like formed clamping body can be produced of a wire section and can be connected in a simple manner rotatably with the housing head. The rest device permits thereby a simple and fast release and reconnection, respectively, of the clamping body with the housing head.
It is advantageous to form the rest device on the housing of a reception for a range of the: clamping body, which, seen in the direction of insertion, precedes an oblique face, to be followed by a limiting abutment.
It is still an object of the present invention to provide an electrical dryshaver, wherein the bearing and the rest device for the clamping body is formed integrally with the housing head.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide an electrical dry-shaver, wherein suitably formed bearing locations are provided for the end ranges of the pinlike holders. Each of the pin-like holders projects on both sides beyond the cutting hood mantel foil, so that extending portions enter the bearings of the housing head.
It is yet another object of the present invention to provide an electrical dry-shaver, wherein the holders of the cutting hood mantel foil are disposed r'otatably in their hearing places. A rigid securing of the end ranges of the cutting hood mantel foil is thereby excluded; rather they can perform a rotary movement, with the result, that the curving of the cutting hood mantel foil can be varied. Since a rotation is possible in both directions, in dependency upon the occurring forces a reduction, as well as an increase of the curving of the originally bent cutting hood mantel foil can take place. By this arrangement the dangerous rangewise lifting of the cutting hood mantel foil from the cutting blade can be prevented. The rotatability of the holders coordinated to the cutting hood mantel foil can be obtained in a simple manner such, that the holders are formed as round pins which rest in bearings complementary to their ends.
The intermediate members have suitable leg members which are arranged tangentially to the rotatably mounted holders.
With these and other objects in view which will become apparent in the following detailed description, the present invention will be clearly understood in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a bottom plan view of a cutting head framework or housing, according to the present invention;
FIGURE 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation taken through the cutting head frame housing, shown in FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a fragmentary cross-section of the cutting head frame housing disclosed in FIGS. 1 and 2.
Referring now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, the shearing head comprises a housing head 3, which is formed integrally. it will be understood that resort may be had to use some metallic materials, alloys, and also plastic materials for this purpose. It will be seen that in order to allow engagement of various types of electrical dry shaving apparatus inside the electric razor itself as well as the head portion, suitable cam projections or lugs 4 may be cast integrally with the housing head 3 which serve the releasable connection with the housing 40 (not completely shown).
In order to releasably mount a cutting head mantel foil 5 on the housing head 3, there is provided a framelike clamping body 6. The latter is in a preferred embodiment of the present invention, made of a wire of suitable size in cross-section, and bent in generally rectangular shape as best seen in FIG. 1. The one narrow side portion 7 of this clamping body 6 serves as a rotatable bearing for the clamping body 6. For this purpose there is formed on the inner wall of the housing head 3 a bearing 8, which receives median ranges of the side portion 7 of the clamping body 6. Within the range of the bearing 8 is disposed the serving portion of the clamping body 6 formed of a wire section. At the other oppositely disposed inner wall of the housing head 3 there is a supporting member for the clamping body 6. The supporting member consists of a rest portion 9, which is complementary to the cooperating portions of the clamping body 6. As seen in FIG. 1, in the supporting portion of the clamping body 6 the median range of its narrow side portion 10 rests in the support 9. Seen in the direction of insertion, an obliquely formed under-surface 11; precedes the sup-- port 9, while a limiting abutment 12 is provided in the opposite side of the support 9. During insertion of parts of the clamping body 6 into the support 9, the parts are pressed along the obliquely formed under-surface 11 until they snap into the resting position 9 of the support 9. Such operation is possible in view of the easily resilient constitution of the side 10 of the clamping body 6.
The cutting hood mantel foil 5 is provided with two pin-shaped holders 13. They can for example be made of metal bodies in a suitable bearing support shape. They are on both longitudinal sides of the cutting hood mantel foil 5 and are rigidly secured to the cutting mantel foil 5 by means of an intermediate member 14. As seen best in FIG. 3, the intermediate member 14 is illustrated in cross-section, as showing generally a U-shaped conformation, the shank 15 of which lies in very close engagement with portions of the cutting hood mantel foil 5. In order to make for a really secure and long lasting engagement of these parts, as mentioned, the shanks 15 of the intermediate member 14 can be rigidly secured to the cutting hood mantel foil 5 by suitable means, such as by soldering. In this way the pin-shaped holder 13 mounted with the range of the intermediate member 14 finds a solid and durable seat.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, each pin-shaped holder 13 extends on both sides to overlie the cutting hood mantel foil 5', expressed differently, the length of the pin-shaped holder 13 is greater than that of the cutting hood mantel foil 5. The projecting portions are employed for anchoring the cutting hood mantel foil 5 within the main housing 3. In order to achieve this, as is illustrated in FIG. 1, four bearing positions 16 are provided on the inner wall of the housing head 3, which are arranged to fit properly with the configuration and the measurements of the free end of the pin-shaped holders 13. The clamping body 6 when positioned in the support 9 abuts the bottom of the intermediate members 14 and lholders 13, thereby locking the mantel foils.
The cutting blade block 43 is formed in a suitable well known manner, in order that it may engage properly with individual hairs of the user for optimum performance. It may also be observed, that the cutting blade block 43 will move back and forth as a unit by means of the drive disposed in the housing 40. Beneath the cutting blade block 43, is a body of material 44, which is formed of suitable highly elastic plastic or similar material. For example, it can have an intermediate portion made of sponge rubber or synthetic sponge material.
While I have disclosed two embodiments of the present invention, it is to be understood that these embodiments are given by example only and not in a limiting sense, the scope of the present invention being determined by the objects and the claims.
I claim:
1. An electrical dry shaver, having a reciprocating cutting blade block, comprising a cutting hood mantel foil,
a clamping body,
a housing head,
said cutting hood mantel foil being releasably secured in said housing head by means of said clamping body,
said cutting blade block being resiliently pressed to said cutting hood mantel foil, and
said cutting hood mantel foil includes two pin-shaped holders disposed at diametrically opposite sides thereof and serving as its bearing means.
2. The electrical dry shaver, as set forth in claim 1, which includes an intermediate member connecting said pin-shaped holders with the longitudinal sides of said cutting hood mantel foil.
3. The electrical dry shaver, as set forth in claim 2, wherein said clamping body is frame-like and comprises a rectangularly bent wire section, and
one side of said clamping body is received rotatably in a bearing of said housing head and the opposite side of said clamping body cooperates with a rest means of said housing head.
4. The electrical dry shaver, as set forth in claim 3, wherein said bearing and said rest means are integral with said housing head.
5. The electrical dry shaver, as set forth in claim 1, wherein said housing head includes a plurality of bearing means for the marginal ranges of said holders.
