Description
Jan. 16, 1968 J. E. L. CHUARD 3,363,755
CONDITIONING HOLDER Filed Nov. 26, 1965 ig.1 2 7 .5 H92- JEAN EMILE LOUIS CHUARD ATTORNEYS INVENTDR United States Patent 3,363,755 CONDITIONING HOLDER Jean Emile Louis Chuard, 17 Rue Rene Payot, Morteau, Doubs, France Filed Nov. 26, 1965, Ser. No. 509,924 Claims priority, application France, Dec. 4, 1964, 997,425, Patent 1,415,457 4 Claims. (Cl. 206-81)) The present invention relates to a holder for an object to be conditioned or mounted, hereinafter referred to as a conditioning holder.
A conditioning or mounting holder according to the present invention is protecting and mainly formed by a housing into which the object to be conditioned is inserted, the latter being held in the housing by means of a retaining support plate, for security, fastened in the housing by means of brakeable tongues.
Preferably the housing is open at one side to permit insertion of the object, and at its upper and lower ends has a centrally placed socket positioned at right angles to said one open side.
The protection or locking of the conditioning or mounting holder is assured by the support plate which is secured at right angles in front of the said one open side and having, for this purpose, two tongues intended to be engaged in the sockets in the housing after first having been coated with an adhesive or appropriate solvent. After the paste-covered tongues have been inserted in the sockets, the tongues are permanently locked in place.
To withdraw the object from the conditioning holder, it is sufficient to break the two tongues of the support plate by imparting a light twist to the latter in one direction or the other.
In a modified form, the object to be conditioned may be enclosed within a container made of two parts, one engaging in the other, and each having a socket in which the corresponding tongue of the said support plate is inserted. The object may be a pocket lighter.
Embodiments of the present invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 is a View in perspective of a conditioning holder according to the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a longitudinal section through the housing of the conditioning holder of FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is an elevational view of the housing of FIG. 2 as seen from the right;
FIG. 4 is a view of the support plate and its tongues;
FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view of the conditioning holder of FIG. 1;
FIG. 6 is a longitudinal sectional view of a modified form of conditioning holder according to the present invention;
FIG. 7 is a view taken along the line a-a of FIG. 6 in the direction of the arrows;
FIGS. 8 and 9 are fragmentary elevational views showing modified forms of sockets for reception of the tongues of the support plate.
Referring to the drawings, an object C, which is to be conditioned, is partly engaged in a housing 1 of preferably transparent plastic material molded for example, in the form of a V-shaped trough closed ofi at 2 at both extremities, the object being held in by a central support plate 3 which is fastened to the said housing, the housing having an open face which is substantially rectangular.
Each of the inner surfaces of the end pieces 2 of the housing 1 has a centrally-placed slot or socket 4, disposed at right angles to the open side 5 of housing 1.
The central support plate 3 assumes substantially the shape of a stirrup having lateral branches 6 (FIG. 4) terminating in tongues 7 for engagement in the sockets 4 of the housing 1.
After insertion of the object C into the housing 1, the tongues 7 are coated with glue or solvent and are then engaged and held in their corresponding sockets 4.
When assembled, the object C cannot be withdrawn from the housing since it bears against an edge 8 of the plate 3.
The conditioning holder thus formed may be set to stand up on one of its end pieces 2, resting against a short side of the plate 3, and may thus be employed as a holding or display unit.
To remove the object C from the housing, the user must impart a twist in the direction of the arrows F (FIG. 5) to the housing 1 and to the plate 3 to shear off the tongues 7 flush with edges 5 of the sockets 5.
According to a modification of the present invention, shown in FIG. 6, for use if the object to be conditioned should be protected from the surrounding atmosphere, the housing 1 is replaced by a closed preferably hexagonal container in two parts 9 and 10 engaging in each other, and each having a terminal socket 11 into which the tongues 12 (previously coated with adhesive) of a central support plate 13 analogous to the plate 3, are inserted.
FIGS. 8 and 9 illustrate the different modified forms of sockets 14 allowing stripping of the two parts 9 and 10 forming the hermetic closed container.
I claim:
1. In a display mounting device for holding an object, a hollow housing having an open face which is substantially rectangular, said housing being adapted to re ceive an object to be displayed, said housing being provided with two oppositely positioned slot sockets extending perpendicular to said open face, and. a support plate having on one edge two projecting breakable tongues adapted to be glued, said sockets being adapted to receive and retain said tongues and hold said plate in retaining engagement with said object.
2. A device according to claim 1, said housnig being in the form of a V-shaped trough.
3. A device according to claim 1, said housing being in the form of two tubular members each. having an open end and a closed end, said open ends of said two tubular members being mutually tightly engageable, and constituting a hermetically closed container for said object.
4. In a conditioning holder, in combination, a hollow housing having sides and being open at one side, a support plate, at each end of the said plate a breakable tongue, said tongues having been coated with adhesive; and at each end of the said housing a centrally-placed socket formed in said housing end extending at right angles to the open side of the said housing for reception of one of said tongues.
