Description

(No Model.)
A. L. FISHER.
WHISTLE. No. 321,202. Patented June 30, 1885.
' INVENTOR awomzg;
I UNiTED STATES,
PATENT OFFICE.
ALVIN L. FISHER, OF NEW BRUNSVIOK, NElV JERSEY, .ASSIGNOR TO THE OVERMAN. XVHEEL COMPANY, OF CHIOOPEE, MASSACHUSETTS.
WHISTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 321,202, dated June 30, 1885. Application filed January 30, 1885. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALVIN L. FISHER, residing at New Brunswick, in the county of Middlesex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in \Vhistles or Calls for the Use of Wheelmen; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in that class of whistles or calls having two sheetmetal tubes, each of different length, and a common mouth-piece for them of the same material, the object being to the better adapt whistles or calls of this class to the use of wheelmen by improving them in respect of their durability, finish, and convenience.
WVith these ends in view my invention consists in a whistle or call having two sheetmetal tubes, each of different length, and a common mouth-piece for them of the same material and provided at its outer end with a lip or flange formed by turning the metal outward and under at such point.
The accompanying drawing is a view, partly in plan and partly in section, of a whistle or call embodying my invention.
The whistle or call is composed of two sheetmetal tubes, Aand B, each of different length, a common mouth-piece, G, of the same matethis flange the mouth-piece is not only stiffened Y and prevented from being indented and battered, but also the article is given a finished and ornamental appearance. Furthermore, the flange enables the whistle or call to be held to the mouth by the teeth, and thus becomes a great convenience to wheelmen by giving them the free use of both hands.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A whistle or call having two sheet-metal tubes, each of diiferent length, and a common mouthpiece made of the same material and provided at its outer end with a lip or flange formed by expanding the metal at such point and turning it outward and under, substantially as set forth. a
a In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ALVIN L. FISHER. Witnesses:
JASPER F. ORorsEY, WM. S. VAN NORTWIOK.
