IMPROVEMENT IN CULTIVATORS.

specification forming part of Letters Patent N0.'3l,l78, lated January 22, 1861.

Bis a bent beam, by which the implement is drawn forward. 4 O is a horizontal brace, bolted at its respective ends to the beam and extending forward from the rear end of the same entirely across the bend, as shown, to afiord rigidity and strength.

D and D' are standards, attached at their up-` per ends to the respective handles and at the center to beam B, one being slightly in advance of and on one side 'of the other, as is customary with implements of this class.

E and E' are reversible shares, which are bolted by their centers to the respective standards D and D', the lower parts of which are curved to correspond with the form of the said shares, and -strengthen the same to their extremities. The upper end of the share E is held between the beam B and a washer, F, confined by a nut, G, upon the bolt H, by which the standard D is attached to the beamB. The upper end of the share E' is held between the beam B and the brace O. By these means the shares are held immovably in. place by means of a single attachment, and admit of removal and replacement in either position with great facility. i

I represents custoinary oblique braces from the standards D and D'.

I claim as new and of my invention hcrein- The described combination of the bent beam B, reversible shares E E', and standards D DI with the brace O and Washer F, the said parts being constructed, arranged, and connected in the manner and for the purposes hereinbeforc described.
