(Cl. 4-4) This invention relates to bowl brush containers and particularly to bowl brush containers which are concealed within a bathroom wall partition, yet remain readily accessible at all times.

More particularly, the concealed bowl brush container, as contemplated by this invention, is intended to form an integral part of the decorative and functional accessories commonly found in bathrooms and be rendered automatically sanitized while housed in such container.

Maintenance of sanitary bathroom conditions requires that the fixtures therein receive regular periodic cleaning. Since these cleanings are necessarily done with bowl brushes, hence, the problem of keeping them readily at hand for convenience sake, while at the same time hidden from view and odor free, is a problem which the prior art has not successfully solved.

Accordingly, an object of this invention is to provide a concealed receptacle for the receiving and storing of a bowl brush wherein such receptacle may also contain a disinfecting solution into which the bristles of the brush may be immersed while housed therein.

Another object of this invention is to make this concealed container an integral part of any of the commonly found wall mounted bathroom accessory fixtures, as for example, a toilet tissue holder, wherein that portion of the accessory which is normally exposed to view may be swung out of the way so as to expose the bowl brush and its container. In other words, the exposed wall mounted accessory would serve the additional function of an access door to the bowl brush container.

Another and further object of this invention would be to maintain the brush receptacle itself easily cleanable by providing a plastic bag liner for its interior, such bag being capable of holding a quantity of liquid disinfectant as heretofore referred to.

An additional object of this invention is to provide a bowl brush container which is not only compact, concealed, and readily accessible, but one which is relatively simple in structure so as to be comparatively inexpensive.

These and other objects will be more fully understood from the following detailed description and reference to the accompanying drawings which depict various embodiments of this invention and wherein:

FIG. 1 shows a recessed toilet tissue receptacle having a hinged lower edge and mounted on a wall in its normal position.

FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of the receptacle of FIG. 1 in its opened position.

FIG. 3 is a vertical cross sectional view of FIG. 1 as it would appear in the wall mounted condition.

FIG. 4 illustrates a front elevation view of FIG. 2 invention with the toilet tissue receptacle in its opened position revealing the handle portion of the bowl brush residing in its container.

FIG. 5 illustrates an alternative embodiment of the invention wherein a wall mounted hinged door carries on its exterior surface a vertically supported roll of toilet tissue with a plurality of utility shelves thereunder.

FIG. 6 depicts the door of FIG. 5 in an opened condition and illustrates further the recessed portion of the container within a wall partition.

FIG. 7 illustrates a front elevation view of FIG. 5.

FIG. 8 illustrates a vertical cross sectional view of FIG. 7, and

FIG. 9 depicts cross sectional view 9-9 showing the llarush container wall and plastic liner with more particuarity.

Referring now in greater detail to the preferred embodiment as illustrated in FIGS. 1-4, it will be noted that the bowl brush container 10 is comprised of 'a housing 11 having wall portions 11a. 11b, 11c, and 11d and a conventional toilet tissue holder which serves as a cover 12 for the housing. The container 10 is recessed and flushmounted to wall partition 2 in a conventional manner. Cover 12 has its lower edge hingcdly connected to the upper edge of wall portion Hat by hinge 14. Cover 12 is formed of outer flange portions 12a, 12b, 12c, and 12d which comprise its exposed exterior perimeter, and a cylindrical recessed portion 13 located intermediate the flange portions. Recessed portion 13 is adapted and sized so as to receive a roll of conventional toilet tissue 16 carried by roller support 15. The respective ends of roller support 15 are removably fastened to flange portigns 12c and 12d respectively by suitable clamping means 1 a.

Conventional latch means 17 afiixed to flange 12b secures cover 12 in its fiush mounted position against wall 2, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3. Releasing latch 17 frees cover 12 from engagement with wall 2 and enables it to rotate about hinge 14 to the downward position, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 4. When cover 12 is in this downward position, the interior 6 of housing 11 thereby becomes accessible through opening 7 for inserting and withdrawing a bowl brush 19. The bristle end 19a of said bowl brush may be immersed in liquid disinfectant 18 contained in the lower portion of interior 6. Handle 19 is held in place by a U-clamp 20 securely mounted to wall of the housing. This preferred embodiment further contemplates that housing 11 would contain in its interior 6 a removable liner 20 of polyethylene or other suitable material for containing liquid disinfectant 18 in order that at periodic intervals the entire liner 20 containing disinfectant 18 may be easily removed, disposed of, and replaced by a new liner and a fresh quantity of disinfectant. A resilient base 21 of sponge rubber or other suitable material may be inserted in the bottom of said container so as to lend a yieldable surface for the brush bristles to rest on when in the container. This feature thereby tends to prevent the bristles from becoming deformed during periods of long standing between uses.

It is to be understood that the housing 11 may be of any shape or size provided, however, that the opening 7 created by lowering cover 12 to the dotted line position of FIG. 3 is of sufficient size to provide easy insertion and withdrawal of the bowl brush 19 into and out of the interior 6. This invention further envisions that housing 11 may be of integral and unitary construction so as to be water tight in order to preclude moisture dispersal into the partitioned area of wall 2.

An alternative embodiment of this concealed bowl brush container adapted for recessed mounting in a wall partition is that illustrated by FIGS. 5 through 9, wherein is shown a recessed fixture 31 having a door 32 hingedly connected at one side by hinges 33a and 33b to wall partition 2. The exterior face of door 32 has integrally mounted thereon: a toilet tissue holder 34 adapted to support a conventional roll of toilet tissue on its vertical axis, a combination cigarette holder and ash tray shelf 35, and a general utility shelf 36. Latch means 37 serves to open and close door 32 in a conventional manner. In its open position, as seen in FIG. 6, door 32 exhibits on its interior face an elongated receptacle 38 for holding bowl brush 19. Receptacle 38, has disposed within its interior a liner 33 of polyethylene or other suitable material, shown in FIG. 9, for holding liquid disinfectant 13 as hereinbefore described for the preferredembodiment.

As a further feature of this invention, door 32 contains an electrical plug receptacle 39. wherein an electric shaver or other appliance may be connected.

Through the second embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 5 through 9 depicts the door as being hinged on one side, it is of course to be understood in view of thisdisclosure, that such door could as well rotate about a support centrally disposed along its longitudinal axis.

From the foregoing description, it will now be apparent that the concealed bowl brush container provided for by this invention need not be restricted to residential usealone, but will find utility in institutional applications as well, for example, schools and hospitals and industrial buildings.

Because of the high moisture content incidentto the environment where this invention will find application, it is contemplated that the device, if made of metal, will be plated with chrome, nickel, or other material to prevent rusting or corrosion. However, the devices herein described may also be fabricated from plastic or any such other material which would lend sufficient strength, rigidity and corrosion resistance to conform to the requirements incident thereto.

I claim:

1. A decorative and functional bathroom fixture comprising a bowl brush container for recessed flush mounting into a wall partition wherein a portion of said container comprises an exterior movably mounted cover, means co-acting with said cover for abutting said cover substantially against said wall partition, means on said cover for supporting a roll of paper thereon, a moisture impervious liner disposed interiorly of said container, said container and liner therein adapted for receiving and storing a bowl brush, clamping means afiixed to one surface of said container, whereby the handle portion of said brush will be held in engagement thereby.

2. A bathroom fixture for recessed mounting into a wall partition and comprising an exposed and an unexposed portion connected together, said exposed portion lying substantially against a surface of said wall partition, and said unexposed portion lying within the interior of said wall partition, said unexposed portion further comprising a container and a moisture impervious liner attached to the interior of said container for supporting a bowl brush therein, and clamping means mounted on one surface of said container for engaging the handle of said bowl brush contained therein.

A wall mounted bathroom fixture comprised of an exposed cover portion lying on the exterior of a wall surface and an elongated unexposed container portion lying within the interior of a wall partition, hinge means connecting said cover portion and container portion together, a moisture impervious liner disposed on the interior surface of said container whereby a quantity of liquid disinfectant may be contained therein, said container being of such size as to accommodate a bowl.

4. A bowl brush container for recessed flush mounting in a wall partition wherein said container is of substantially rectangular shape, a portion of one side of said container comprising an access cover for gaining entry to the interior thereof, said cover having perimeter flange portions for abutment against a wall partition, an arcuate recess in said cover, a horizontally disposed roller support bisecting said recess, said roller support terminating in ends each being adjacent one of said flange portions and affixed thereto, said roller support in conjunction with said recess being adapted for supporting a roll of paper, clamping means afiixed interiorly of said container located opposite said cover, a moisture impervious liner disposed interiorly of said container below said cover, and adapted forcontaining a liquid disinfectant, said container and said liner adapted for receiving and storing a bowl brush whereby the handle portion of said brush will be held in engagement with said clamp and the brush bristles will be immersed in the liquid disinfectant.

A bathroom fixture comprising a door hingedly mounted to a wall partition, a plurality of shelves atfixed to the exterior of said door, support means mounted to the exterior of said door for holding a roll of paper, a container afiixed interiorly of said door extending substantially the length thereof, a moisture impervious lining within said container for receiving a liquid disinfectant therein, clamping means located on the interior surface of said door whereby a bowl brush may be placed within saidcontainer and said liner with its bristles immersed in said liquid disinfectant, and with the brush handle engaged by said clamping means for maintaining said brush in an upwardly position.

A concealable bowl brush receptacle comprising an elongated housing recessed into a wall partition, a door hingedly mounted to said wall partition housing for ingress thereinto, a pair of spaced apart horizontally disposed arcuate protrusions located on the exterior of said door, a roller support interconnecting said protrusions whereby a roll of paper may be carried thereon, a plurality of utility shelves disposed beneath said protrusions, latch means for retaining said door in a closed position with respect to said wall partition, an elongated container affixed to the interior of said door, clamping means mounted on the interior door surface above said container means, a moisture impervious liner in said container means for containing a quantity of liquid disinfectant whereby a bowl brush may be placed therein with its bristlesimmersed in said liquid disinfectant and the handle portion of the brush may be engaged by said clamp.

A decorative and functional bathroom fixture comprising a housing for recessed flush mounting into a wall partition wherein a portion of said housing comprises an exterior movably mounted cover, means co-acting with said cover for abutting said cover substantially against said wall partition, means on said cover for supporting paper thereon, a moisture impervious liner adapted to contain a disinfectant therein removably supported by said housing at least in part below said cover, said housing and said liner adapted for receiving and supporting a brush disposed therein for storage.

Claims

1. A DECORATIVE AND FUNCTIONAL BATHROOM FIXTURE COMPRISING A BOWL BRUSH CONTAINER FOR RECESSED FLUSH MOUNTING INTO A WALL PARTITION WHEREIN A PORTION OF SAID CONTAINER COMPRISES AN EXTERIOR MOVABLY MOUNTED COVER, MEANS CO-ACTING WITH SAID COVER FOR ABUTTING SAID COVER SUBSTANTIALLY AGAINST SAID WALL PARTITION, MEANS ON SAID COVER FOR SUPPORTING A ROLL OF PAPER THEREON, A MOISTURE IMPERVIOUS LINER DISPOSED INTERIORLY OF SAID CONTAINER, SAID CONTAINER AND LINER THEREIN ADAPTED FOR RECEIVING AND STORING A BOWL BRUSH, CLAMPING MEANS AFFIXED TO ONE SURFACE OF SAID CONTAINER WHEREBY THE HANDLE PORTION OF SAID BRUSH WILL BE HELD IN ENGAGEMENT THEREBY.
