IN V EN TOR. Maia/ a M212 5 BYM/M 3,088,462 PANTY WITH HYGIENIC BAND Masako Muto, 672 Sato-machi, Hamamatsu City, Japan Filed Apr. 7, 1960, Ser- No. 20,788 1 Claim. (Cl. 128-290) This invention relates to a specific construction of a panty fitted with a hygienic band, which is made of a sheet of very fine foamed synthetic resin, such as polyurethanes, polyesters or polyethers, cut into a rectangular shape, having each end thereof wrapped by a suitable thin sheet strip of synthetic resin or fabric and sewed together to finish the band. Button holes are provided for the end strips facilitating attachment or detachment of the band to or from the panty by means of small buttons. The main body of panty is made of a suitable elastic woven or knitted cloth to an ordinary known shape and the lower part between the thighs is lined with a piece of water-proof fabric sewed along the edges.
For a better understanding of this invention, reference is made .to the accompanying drawings, in which-- FIG. 1 is a front view of the panty with hygienic band according to this invention,
FIG. 2 is a front view of the panty in its reversed and extended condition,
FIG. 3 is a partial sectional view taken on the line A-A of FIG. 2,
FIG. 4 is a plan view of the hygienic band, and
FIG. 5 is its side view.
The panty according to this invention will now be explained with reference to the drawing.
In the drawing, the reference numeral 1 represents the main part of the panty which adapts itself to the lower part of a womans trunk, and 2 represents a piece covering the lower part between the thighs sewed on the main part 1 along the line 3.
According to the present invention, a piece of waterproof cloth 4 such as nylon or other treated synthetic fiber fabric is put on the inside of the piece 2 and is sewn along the edges to the main body 1 of the panty. A thin strip 5 is secured to each end of the lining along one edge like a flap and a suitable number of small buttons 6 are fixed to the strip 5 on its under side.
The hygienic band 7 as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 is preferably made of extremely fine foamed synthetic resin of polyurethane, polyester or polyether, which is cut from a sheet to a rectangular shaped piece and each end thereof is wrapped with a thin sheet strip 8 and sewn together and suitable numbers of button holes 9 are provided for the strip to pass buttons 6 sewn on the flap 5 through them, thus the hygienic band 7 can be detached from the panty if necessary.
A thin sheet 10 of plastic material or synthetic resin 3,088,462 Patented May 7, 1963 such as vinyl sheet is preferably applied to each end of the band 7 to cover its end portion and then the strip 8 is put thereon and sewn together along the seam 11, then the band 7 can be more firmly secured to the end strip 8 without breaking along the sewed seam.
Elastic materials constituting the hygienic band of this invention consist of a very fine foamed elastic material of synthetic resins such as Polyurethane foam. This material has a very light weight, very mild touch and suitable liquid absorbing and ventilating properties, but it is nonpermeable to water so that when absorbent cotton is put on the hygienic band 7, in case of using the panty, the blood leaked out of the absorbent cotton is completely absorbed by the band and moreover, the water-proof lining 4 secured to the panty prevents the permeation of blood and protects the panty from deterioration. Since the hygienic band according to this invention has a better ventilation property, compared with an ordinary rubber sheet, it does not cause damp effects so that it keeps ones health and gives good feeling to a person who employs it, since it has very soft and elastic feeling without giving cool feeling. Moreover, the band is porous having sufficient elasticity so that the absorbent cotton well adheres to the hand without tendency of slipping off.
The band 7 as above described can be easily detached from the body of the panty by means of the button attachment and can be washed with water very easily within a short time (Within about 1 minute) and can be quickly dried (about 10 minutes) so that it has practical advantages of very convenient use Without troubles.
What I claim is:
A hygienic band to be detachably secured to a panty body on a water-proof lining secured to the inside thereof at the part between the thighs, which comprises a rectangular shaped body made of elastic, very fine foamed synthetic resin having liquid absorbing, non-permeable and ventilating properties, each end portion of said band being covered around its transverse edge with a thin sheet of synthetic resin, and superposed thin edge-pieces of reinforcing material covering said resin sheets, the resin sheets and the thin edgeapieces being provided with button holes extended through the rectangular body to make the band detachable from the panty.
