ISAAC B. WOLLARD, OF SAN FRANCISCO, ASSIGNOR TO THE OAKLAND GLASS WORKS, OF OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA.
BOTTLE-STOPPER CLAMP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 307,825, dated November 11, 18 84.
Application filed February 28, 1884. (Model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ISAAC B. WOLLARD, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco, and State of California, have invented a new and useful Improvement in BottleStopper Clamps, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to that class of devices lar vessels, or to confine thestoppers of beer, soda, or niineratwater bottles.
I illustrate in the accompanying drawings a clamp for a fruit-jar. Those for other purposes differ only in size.
Figure 1 is an elevation of apart of a fruitjar, showing the cover in position and secured by the clamp. Fig. 2 is the clamp shown in perspective, and Fig. 3 is the eccentric lever.
Similarletters refer to similar parts th roughout the several views.
A A is the neck-band or the part that encircles the neck of the vessel. This band is made in two parts. On one side each part has an upward projection, B, to which the binder c is hinged. On the other side one part, A,of
the neck-band projects upward at D, and to this is attached the eccentricleverEas shown. The other part, A, of the neck-band is bent around the upward projection, D, and then bent into a hook, F, to receive and hold the end of the eccentric lever when locked. WVhen I placed in its position on the jar or bottle, the binder c is bent or sprung by the eccentric lever E over the projection G on top of and forming a part of the cover H, forcingthe cover against the gasket, making an air and water tight joint.
From the foregoing it is obvious that I have a simple, effective, and cheap device, made entirely of wire, and all of its parts will remain on the vessel when unlocked, and no amount of rough handling will unlock it when once the eccentric lever has been sprung into the hook F.
I do not confine myself to this construction, for I may find it convenient and desirable to make the neck-band with its projection ofone instead of two pieces, as shown in the drawings.
Having illustrated and described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the neck-band A A, made of one or two pieces, with the projections B and D and hook F, the binder 0, and eccentric lever E, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
