Dentures are in very wide usage, and it is of great importance from the viewpoint of oral hygiene that they be maintained in a sanitary condition. It is therefore among the principal objects of the present invention to provide a device which may be used to properly clean a denture even "when there is'no adequate water supply available. 5 i i Another object herein lies in the provision of structure of the class described which aids in the user's comfort in wearing -dentures.-

A still further object herein is to provide a denture compact device which in addition to retaining water for the denture or dentures, acts as a container for the den tures themselves, as well as a waterproof carrier for a tooth brush, and a supply of dentifricetherefor.

Because of the unique interfitting of the various parts, the device is of relatively small size so that it mayhave the general appearance of a cosmetic or facial type com- V pact or a package of cigarettes. V

embarrassment, since the user has constantly at hand not only a container for the dentifrice, but also water, tooth brush and cleaning material.

A feature of the device is that it may be made of synthetic resinous'or similar'materials, which are waterproof. Thus, when moulded of plastic, it may be produced in large scale at relatively low cost so that the same may be colorful, and have a wide distribution anduse.

A feature of the invention lies in the fact that because the dentifrice is always conveniently at hand with the water and brush with which'it is used, the user is prompted to make use thereof after every meal and although the dentifrice will be morerapidly consumed, a

healthful benefit results ,to the user, and replacement tubes of dentifrice are available at all kinds of retail establishments, such as drug stores, variety stores and super markets;

Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view showing a I clear the inner surfaces of the side wall 22. Plate 58 is provided with a pair of notches 62 which allow the plate dn'cal in shape having a vertical wall 22, a bottom wall 24, and an upper free edge 26. Disposed on the inner surface of the vertical side wall 22 are a plurality of sets 23 of lug supports 30 adapted to be selectively engaged by the denture holding means 20. The spaces between the supports St] in each set are preferably substantially identical and sufiicient to permit the edge portions 32 to be placed therebetween. The supports project inwardly, and are preferably diametrically opposed in two sets.

Projecting upwardly from bottom wall 24 is the auxiliary container means 16, preferably having a cylindrical side wall 34 with an upper free edge 36. The septum 33 extends upward from the bottom wall 24 and joins opposed portions of the inner surface of the side wall 34 to form a plurality of compartments 40 and 42. Compartment 40 is adapted to contain a supply of dentifrice 44 which may be a tube of paste dentifrice, while com partrnent 42 is adapted to contain a tooth or denture brush 46. p v

The upper portion ofthe wall 34 is preferably provided with threads 43 which coact with threads on the side wall of the auxiliary-cover means 18. The cover means 18 is preferably composed of synthetic resin having a slightresiliency so that the interfitted parts when secured sufficiently form a water-tight seal. This seal prevents the water 52 fronientering the compartments 4d and 42 so that the dentifrice 44 and the brush 46 are kept free from contact with the water 52.

So that the device 10 may be as small as possible, the height of the top surface 54 of the cover means 18 is preferably above the upper surface of the bottom wall 24, a distance which is equal to the height of a lower denture 56; and the diameter of the walls 34 and Silt is vsufficiently small to fit within the curvature of the innermost surfaces of the lower denture 56. Thus when disposed within the device 10, the denture 56 may occupy the position shown in Figure 3 of the accompanying drawings.

The denture holding means 20 is preferably in the form of a flat circular plate, the free edge 60 of which will 7 53 to be lowered into the main container 12, by passing the lug supports 30. After the plate 58 has been lowered to the desired position, an axial rotation thereof will. bring the edge 69 between appropriate lug supports 3142 thereby holding the plate 58 against vertical movement.

. The plate 58 is provided with orifices 64 which allow the water 52 to pass therethrough.

Movably and adjustably connected to the plate 58, preferably by the pivot 66 is the upper denture engaging means 68. After the plate 58 has been put in place, the

upper denture 76 may be placed thereon, and the arm 72 may be moved from its disengaged position indicated by the dot-dash lines on Figure 2 to the position indicated by the full lines on said figure'to press the upper denture 7i) gently against the opposed portion of the inner surface In accordance with the invention, the device generally indicated byreference character-10 comprises broadly: a

U main container 12; main container cover means 14; an auxiliary container 16; auxiliary containercover means of the side wall 22. The pivot 66 is a frictional connection so that when displaced, the arm 72 will stay put.

This prevents undesirable movement of the upper denture.

' The main container cover means 14 is preferably provided with threads in the side wall 74 thereof, which engage the threads 76 on the side wall 22. The cover means 14 is preferably composed of slightly resilient synthetic resin so that a. water-tight seal is obtained at the free edge 26.

In use, the user may store his only set, or a spare V V set of dentures in the device 10, preferably witha supply of water 52 which may contain an antiseptic. Since den 'tures and removable bridgesdiifer in size, the denture I holding means 20 will prevent injury to the denturesand removable bridges and prevent them from being marred or chipped. Since the lower denture is positioned about the auxiliary container 16, it too, is prevented from being damaged, marred or chipped: even when the user'is not near an external supply of water, the user may utilize the Water 52 in combination with the dentifrice 44 and/ or its brush 46 to clean the dentures. Even when the user is wearing an only set of dentures, or bridges, the supply of water 52 together with the dentifrice 44 and brush 46 are then useful.

I wish it to be understood that I do not desire to be limited to the exact details of construction shown and described for obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art to which the present invention relates.

I claim.

1. A denture compact device for carrying a lower and an upper denture, comprising: a main container having a wall; an auxiliary container fixedly mounted on said main container and spaced from said wall a distance sufficient to receive lower denture between the auxiliary container and said wall; main cover means adapted to form a water-tight closure with the main container; auxiliary cover means adapted to form a water-tight closure with said auxiliary container; denture holding means including a plate adjustably positionable between said auxiliary cover means and said main cover means.

2. Structure as claimed in claim 1 in which the said plate has upper denture engaging means in the form of an arm movably mounted thereon.

3. Structure as claimed in claim 1 in which said plate has a plurality of orifices.

4. A denture compact device for carrying a lower and an upper denture, comprising: a main container having a wall; an auxiliary container fixedly connected to said main container and spaced from said wall a distance suiiicient to receive said lower denture between said auxiliary container and said wall; said wall having a series of spaced lugs thereon; main cover means adapted to form a water-tight closure with the main container; auxiliary cover means adapted to form a water-tight closure with said auxiliary container; denture holding means including a plate having notches in the edge thereof selectively engageable with said lugs and thereby adjustably position able between said auxiliary cover means and said main cover means.

5. Structure as claimed in claim 4 in which the said plate has upper denture engaging means in the form of an arm mobilely mounted thereon.
