POP CORN PACKAGE. v y No. 296,897.y Patented Apr. 15, 1884.
A /lvl/E/vo/f @TZ/gigi?, C/wwm/ Ymen/- uw@ A Harney UNITED STATES ATENT @Errea VINCENT D. TIRSO, OF EVANSVILLE, INDIANA.
PoP-CORN PACKAGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 296,897. dated April 15, 1884.
i Application led February 21, 18S-1. (No model.)
To all whom t may concern.-
Be it known that I, VINCENT D. URso, a citizen of the United States, residing at Evansville, in the county of Vanderburg and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Pop-Corn Package, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to improvements in boxes, and has fo'r its object to provide a packing-box of the shape of a rocket, for the use of cont'ectioners, adapted to contain candies, nuts, or pop-corn, together With prizes of nominal value, so constructed as to be easily displayed'by inserting its supporting-stick in an aperture in a stand. This object is attained by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification,
in Whichf Figure 1 is an elevation. Fig. 2 is a vertical section. Fig. 3 is a View of the bottom of the box and transverse section of the stick C. The letter A indicates the body of the..box,
which is of cylindrical shape, and is preferably made of pasteboard, having its edges brought together or lapped one over the other and then glued or pasted. The bottom A', of the same material', is then inserted and glued or pasted in. The body or cylinder A is then covered with calendered paper, D, about threequarters of an inch longer than the cylinder, and this part of the calendered paper is crimped over the end of the cylinder and over the bottom A, and is secured to the cylinder and to the bottom by paste, glue, or other adhesive material. A circular piece of paper, E, slightly smaller than the diameter of the the other, and glued or pasted, and covered with calendercd paper in the same manner as already described for the cylinder; and When the box or cylinder Ahas been filled with pop-corn or other goods the upper edge of the cylinder is covered with paste or other adhesive material, and the top B is then placed thereon. This completes the package.
The cylindrical portion of the box may be ornamented with appropriate and suggestive designs.
A stick, C, about fourteen inches long, is glued or otherwise attached to one side ofthe box A,aud serves the purpose to hold the box in an elevated position when inserted in a stand or other receptacle, whereby the entire device may be brought more prominently into view when placed upon acounter or showwindow.
Having described my invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent, and claim, is-
The cylindrical box A, having aconical cover, B, in combination with stick C, as described,
and for the purposes set fort-h.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.'
VINCENT D. URSO. Witnesses:
