Description
H. VELKE DEVICE FOR THE SUPPORT OF SCREENS May 13, 1958 Filed Nov. 10, 1953 United States Patent DEVICE FOR THE SUPPORT OF SCREENS Herbert Velke, Uzwil, Switzerland, assignor to Gebriider Biihler, Uzwil, Switzerland Application November 10, 1953, Serial No. 391,311
Claims priority, application Germany November 18, 1952 4 Claims. (Cl. 160-395) This invention relates to frame structures for the support of Separator screens.
These screen supporting frames are often made of light metals and the screen forming fabrics are secured to the supporting frames by resilient clamping means, for instance rubber cord.
In conformity with the invention a screen holding frame is provided having a recess which opens out towards the circumference of the frame; this recess serves to house at least one elastic-member which holds the screen in its operative position and resiliently secures the screen holding frame in the separator housing.
These frames may be made of wood, metal, of an elastic material such as rubber or a combination thereof.
A single elastic member may be used to secure the screen and to resiliently hold it.
In conformity with a preferred embodiment of the invention two elastic members are provided of which one holds the screen fabric whereas the second member serves the resilient support of the screen frame in the separator housing; this second resilient member also participates in the support of the screen fabric.
The. fastening of the screen fabric by elastic means such as rubber made members enables an extremely simple mode of fixing the screen in the frame. The resilient support of the frame in the separator housing enables a satisfactory seal between the screen and the housing and prevents the dropping-down of the materials to be screened. Moreover, this resilient screen support makes it possible to jolt and oscillate the screen by a purifying device or a heater.
The invention will now be described more in detail and with reference to the attached drawings showing a preferred modification thereof.
In the drawings, Figs. 1, 2, 3 illustrate three vertical sectional views of the instant screen holding device.
As apparent from Fig. 1 the fabric screen 2 is secured to the frame 1 by a rubber cord 3 inserted into the recess 11 of the frame this recess opening out toward the circumference or outer face of the frame. The size of the recess 11 decreases gradually towards the circumference of the frame and finds its smallest size between its outer parts 6, 6, whereby a particularly favorable securing mode is attained of the cord 3.
2,834,412 Patented May 13, 1958 Frame 1 is resiliently supported in outer housing 4,
preferably made of metal or wood by means of a rubber member 5 having an outwardly increasing size thus memher 5 being supported in an outward deflection 12 of the housing and being adapted to resiliently fasten the screen 2 in frame 1 and this frame in housing 4.
A modification of the invention is shown in Fig. 2.
Here the circular rubber cord 3, shown in Fig. 1, is replaced by a hollow rubber cord 7 and the rubber cord 8, the latter having a circular shape and being adapted to resiliently secure the screen 2 in frame 1 and this frame in housing 4.
In conformity with Fig. 3 the screen holding frame consists of a metal profile 9 enclosing an elastic holding member 10.
In order to further secure the screen in the recessed frame slide preventing coatings may be provided between the screen and the frame.
The recess which entirely or partly harbours the rubber cord members is inwardly enlarged.
Since certain changes may be made in the above article and different embodiments of the invention could be made without departing from the scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the above description or shown in the accompanying drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to be secured by Letters Patent, is as follows:
1. In a device for the supporting of screens, and particularly fabric screens, a housing, a screen supporting frame located in said housing, said frame having a first recess outwardly opening towards said housing, a screen carried by said frame having edge portions extending between said housing and frame and across said first recess, said housing having a second recess outwardly opening towards said frame, said recesses being situated adjacently one to another, an elastic cord member in said recesses, to resiliently fasten said screen to said frame and the latter in said housing.
2. In a device according to claim 1, a second elastic cord member located in said first recess, resiliently securing said screen in said frame.
3. In a device according to claim 1, said frame comprising an elastic member having said first recess and being incased by a U-shaped metal member.
4. In a device as claimed in claim 1, said second elastic cord member, being a hollow rubber cord.
