Description

W. M. ARGO April 21, 1959 COMBINATION NECKBAND AND TOWEL FOR BARBERS AND BEAUTY OPERATORS Filed Feb. 3. 1956 IN VEN TOR. 141/44 mm m. A #40 Arron/vs? United States Patent COMBINATION NECKBAND AND TOWEL FOR BARBERS AND BEAUTY OPERATORS William M. Argo, Norman, 0kla., assignor of one-half to Aubra D. Black, Norman, Okla.
Application February 3, 1956, Serial No. 563,312
1 Claim. (Cl. 2-50) This invention relates to improvements in neckbands such as are required to be used under state laws by barbers and beauty operators and the principal object of the present invention is to provide a combination disposable neckband and towel, which will not only comply with the state laws relative to the use of a neckband but will inherently provide a towel for wiping around the neck and ears after the neck has been shaved.
Another important object of the present invention is to provide a combination structure of this character which is provided with a tail portion which can be tucked under the collar of the patron, thus holding the combination structure desirably in place.
A further object of the invention is to provide a combination neckband and towel of a soft, sanitary and absorbent material and which is of inexpensive construction so that after one use it is placed in the waste.
These and other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following description.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view showing the combination structure in use.
Figure 2 is a rear elevational view.
Figure 3 is an enlarged vertical sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the article of manufacture.
Referring to the drawing wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that the combination structure is formed from one piece of suitably soft, sanitary and absorbent material. It is cut to provide a. substantially 2,882,529 Patented Apr. 21, 1959 ice rectangular shaped strip 10 having a substantially broad tail portion 11 having an arcuate cut-out 12 at its outer edge.
The portion 10 is substantially elongated to provide a pair of wings 13, 13 which extend beyond the tail portion 11.
In the use of this combination structure, the tail portion 11 is tucked up under the collar A, of a patrons garment B, and the wings 13, 13 are disposed against the neck with the ends overlapping at the front. The usual barbers or beauticians sheet is then placed over the wings to further hold the same in place. When the barber or beautician has finished cutting the hair of a patron the sheet is released and the wings 13, 13 are brought back into position.
When a barber is ready to shave the patrons neck, he simply pulls the wings 13 down, and then shaves the neck. He can then Wash ofi the neck and dry it, using the wings 13 as a towel, as well as the entire portion 10. Thus, the structure not only serves as a neckband or guard but also as a towel and after one use is disposed of.
While the foregoing description sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having described the invention what is claimed as new is:
A sanitary neck piece for the patrons of barbers and beauty operators comprising a split neck band, a tail portion depending from the medial portion of the band and having the central portion of the bottom edge thereof curved upwardly to conform to the folded edge of the collar of a patrons clothing when tucked under said collar, said neck band adapted to be disposed forwardly on the neck of a patron with its forward end portions overlapping and adapted to be held in position snugly against the'neck by the usual patrons covering sheet employed by barbers and beauty operators, said neck band being of absorbent and disposable material.
