This inventionrelates to a novel hanger for clothing and the l ike articles, the primary object of which is to permit occupants of an automobile to readily and easily-suspend clothing on the retractible windows thereof.

A further important object of this invention is to provide a hanger constructed of a single piece of wire bent to form a plurality of vertically spaced laterally extending hooks.

A still further object of this invention is to provide a device of the character described including anti-friction means in the form of rollers carried by the bent wire for grippingly and yieldingly engaging both the sides and the free edge of the window.

A further object of this invention is to provide a device of the character described which can be readily and easily slipped on and off the Window.

And yet another object of this invention is to provide a hanger for windows, constructed of a single piece of wire comprising a substantially U- shaped member having a first and second leg, vertically spaced hook members extending laterally from said first leg, and anti-friction means carried by the bight portion of said U-shaped member for grippingly engaging an edge of the Window.

These, together with various ancillary objects and features of the invention which will later become apparent as the following description proceeds, are attained by the device, a preferred embodiment of which has been illustrated by way of example only in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

In the several views in the accompanying drawings and in the following specification similar reference characters indicate corresponding elements throughout.

Indicated generally at I0 is a window pane having a top edge [2 and sides l4 and [5. It is to be understood that while this glass pane may be any type of support, it is particularly contemplated that it refer to retractible windows in automotive vehicles. The device indicated generally at i6, and shown clearly in the drawings, is made of a single piece of wire bent to form a U- leg. 2Q joined by a bight portion 22.

It willbenoted that each of the hook members 24 and 26 consists essentially of adjacent extensions 28 and 30 which are portions originally of the leg member I8. The extensions '28 and 30 are secured together by means of an appropriate fastening band or wire 32. The bottommost extension 30 is further bent to produce a laterally extending bottom hook member 34.

It will readily be seen that the hanger can be easily slipped on and off the window l0 and to support the hanger on the top edge [2 of the window an anti-friction roller 36 in the form preferably of a hard rubber roller is journaled on the bight portion 22. A means is provided for yieldingly and grippingly engaging the sides 14 and I5 of the window which consists of the following elements. An open loop 38 is carried atthe bottom end of the leg 20 and journals an anti-friction roller 40, also preferably of hard rubber, which roller engages the side l5 of the window [0. The bight portions 42 and 44 of the leg is between the hook members 24 and 26, and the hookmembers 26 and 34 are also provided with anti-friction rollers 46, also pref- 48 joined by a bight portion 50 to a leg portion 52 which carries an open loop 54 at the bottom end thereof. The leg 48 is bent to form a laterally extending hook member 56 having adjoining portions 58 and 60 attached to each other by means of a wire 62. The adjoining portion Gil is further bent to form a bight portion 62 and the laterally extending hook 64 at the end thereof. As in the modification shown in Figure 1, the bight portion 50 journals an anti-friction roller 66 for suspending the hanger upon the top edge I2 of the window, while the open loop 54 and the bight portion 62 each journal an anti-friction roller 68 for grippingly and yieldingly engaging the sides [4 and 15 of the window.

In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed urmecessary.

It is to be understood, however, that even though there'is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and. the scope of the appended claim.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

A hanger for windows constructed of a single piece of wire comprising a substantially U-shaped member having a first and second leg connected by way of a bight portion, said second leg tenninating in an open loop, an anti-friction roller carried by said loop for yieldingly and grippingly engaging one side of the window, an anti-friction roller carried by the bight portion of said U-shaped member for engaging the edge of the window, the free end of said first leg being upturned to form a hook, a pair of vertically spaced hook members formed from said first leg and located-between said upturned hook and said bight portion and extending laterally fromsaid REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
