EYEBROW STENCIL- Fiied Dec. 28, 1945 FIG. '1.
BETTY .SAMS O I N VEN TOR.
ATTORNEY Patented Feb. 3, 1948 UNITED STATES PATENT. OFFICE EYEBROW STENCIL Betty Samson, Hollywood, Calif.
Application December 28, 1945, Serial No. 637,595
3 Claims. (Cl. 132-885) This invention relates to beauty treatment devices and more especially to a stencil adapted to aid in the stencilling of the eyebrows.
An object of the invention is to provide a simplified, practical and inexpensive eyebrow stencil.
Another object of the invention is to provide an eyebrow stencil device having apertures forming the outlines of typical eyebrow form and shape for selective use in stencilling eyebrows.
A further object of the invention is to provide an eyebrow stencil device of the character described incorporated in a flexible, transparent sheet which is convenient in use and may be maintained in a sanitary condition.
An additional object of the invention is to provide a combination eyebrow stencil adapted for forming eyebrows of varying width, heighth or curvature including all of the usual eyebrow forms, however, including certain extreme forms sometimes desired.
Another object of the invention is to provide an eyebrow stencil including an enlarged aperture having a curved edge and a curved strip overlying the aperture and movably or adjustably positioned to regulate the size of the stencil opening for forming differently shaped eyebrows.
Other objects and advantages will appear and be brought out more fully in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing wherein:
Fig. 1 is the face view of an eyebrow stencil embodying a form of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken along the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a face view of an eyebrow stencil embodying a modified form of my invention.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken along the line 4-4 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a face view of a further modified form of the invention.
Referring more particularly to the drawing and especially to Figs. 1 and 2, I show an eyebrow stencil I 0 comprising a substantially rectangularly shaped sheet of flexible, resilient material such as a plastic, Celluloid or the like. A plurality of apertures H, I2 and I 3 are formed in sheet H) as shown, the apertures having upper and lower curved edges 14 and I5, an enlarged, rounded end portion 16 and tapering substantially at a point I1.
It will be seen in Fig. 1 that aperture II has a. considerable curvature, aperture l2 having less curvature, and aperture l3 less curvature than aperture I2. It will also be seen that the effective lengths of the apertures are graduated. To those familiar with the art of eyebrow stencilling, it will be obvious that the stencil formed by aperture ll contains all the elements of a natural eyebrow form and in the hands of an experienced operator, it can be used for forming eyebrows of either a semi-extreme or extreme type, however, the stencil apertures l2 and I3 may be used for these outlines if desired.
In Figs. 3 and 4, I show a modified form of the invention. In these figures, I show a plate or sheet 20 of substantially the character of sheet Ill and, although rectangular in outline, may be of any other desired shape. This sheet is formed with an aperture 2| of substantial size having a curved edge 22 01' substantially the curvature of edge ll of the embodiment of Fig. 1. A regulating strip 23 is provided and preferably has substantially the form shown, providing a curved edge 24 and being pivoted at 25 as by a rivet or the like and formed with an end portion 26 overlying the extreme edge ofthe plate 20 to serve as a handle. Strip 23 overlies aperture 2| and can be moved or regulated so as to vary the spacing between edges 22 and 24, the latter being similar to edge ii, the two edges forming the upper and lower outline edge portions of an eyebrow to be stencilled. The dotted line position in Fig. 3 indicates the movable character of strip 23 to provide the adjustable spacing as just mentioned.
In Fig. 5, I show a further modified form of my invention. In this figure, I show a plate or sheet 30 similar to sheets H1 or 20 in character, however being somewhat triangular in shape and having a corner portion 3| which may be of assistance as a handle when using the article. Apertures 32, 33 and 34 are provided, having the stencil outlines of eyebrow forms of desired or selected shape which may be similar to apertures H, l2 and H or varying therefrom in detail. It should be obvious to all that the stencils of either of the forms shown are reversible for forming the right and left hand eyebrows respectively.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. An article of the character described comprising a flexible plate having an aperture formed with a curved edge, a substantially fiat strip having a curved edge overlying said aperture and means to regulate the amount of separation of said curved edges to form the outline of an eyebrow.
2. An article of the character described comprising a flexible plate having an aperture formed with a curved edge, a substantially flat strip REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
