The principal object of the invention is to' provide doonguiding means which are simple in construction, smooth in operation; and which maybe-manipulated with the expenditure of the minimum of effort,
A further object of the invention is to provide door guiding" means in which. the; door opens outwardly when raised, therebynotv obstructing the head room in.the.associated building.
Another object of the invention is to provide door guiding means which can be easily maintained in satisfactory working. condition.
An additional objectof the invention is to provide. door: guiding means which are readily applicable to all types of overhead doors.
A still further object of the invention is to provide door guiding means which will readily lend themselves'to economical manufacture.
With the above more important objects in view, and such other objects as may become apparent as this specification proceeds, the invention consists essentially of the arrangement and construction of parts as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a door, illustrating the invention in situ thereon.
Figure 2 is a cross sectional view, taken in the plane of the line 2-2 of Figure 1, and showing the door in the closed position.
Figure 3 is a cross sectional view similar to that shown in Figure 2, but illustrating the door in the open position.
Figure 4 is an elevational view of one of the plates used in the invention.
Figure 5 is a plan view taken in the direction of the arrow 5 in Figure 4.

stantially flat plate l8; provided with a lurality of apertures I9, whereby it may be secured by suitable bolts or screws 20 to the adjacent frame 2| of the door.
The plate l8 carries a roller 22 mounted thereon by means of a pivot pin 23, the purpose of which will be more fully hereinafter described. In addition, the plate I8 is also provided with a plurality of arcuate slots 24, these being concentrically arranged with respect to the roller 22 and constituting tracks.
An L-shaped bracket 25 is provided on one arm thereof with a channel section 26, adapted for positioning on the adjacent edge portion [6 of'the door [1, to which the bracket 25 is secured by suitable screws 21. The channel portion 26 is formed with an aperture 28, this being adapted to receive the aforementioned roller 22. It will be apparent that in this manner, the bracket 25 and the associated door I! are pivotally connected to the plate I8 and hence, to the framework 2|.
The remaining arm of the bracket 25 is provided with a plurality of rollers 29, each of which is engageable with one of the aforementioned slots or tracks 24. If desired, the plate l8 may be formed with arcuate flanges 30, these being disposed adjacent the edges of the slots 24 and providing an increased bearing surface for the rollers 29.
A lever 3| is pivotally connected at one end thereof as at 32 to the plate l8, adjacent the location of the roller 22. It will be noted that the plate is provided with a suitable aperture 33, in order to accommodate the pivot pin 32. The remaining end of the lever 3| is formed with a longitudinally extending slot 34, this engaging the mounting pin 35 of one of the rollers 29, as will be clearly apparent from the accompanying drawings.
A coil spring 36 is positioned on the pivot pin 32, one end of the spring being anchored in an aperture 31- formed in the lever 3|, while its remaining end is anchored in a further aperture 38 formed in the plate IS.
The bracket 25 is also equipped with a check ball 39, this being positioned in a suitable socket When the invention is placed in' use, the door l1- may be raised from its closed position shown in Figures 1 and 2 to the open position illustrated in:Figure 3, during which action, the door will pivot about the rollers 22, while the rollers 29 slide in the tracks 24. I
The spring 36 and the associated lever 3| are arranged in such manner as to assist in the opening of the door and to correspondingly retard the closing of the same.
By virtue of the engagement of the ball 39 with either of the depressions 40, the door will be effectively retained in either the closed or the open position.
It is believed that the advantages and use of the invention will be clearly understood from the foregoing disclosure and accordingly, further description thereof at this point is considered unnecessary.
While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention it is to be understood that minor changes in. the details of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departingfrom the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. In door guiding means the combination comprising a plate secured to a door frame, a bracket mounted on a door, a pivot pin and a plurality of arcuate tracks on said plate, said tracks being concentrically disposed with respect to said pin, said pin engaging said bracket, a plurality of rollers on said bracket, each of said rollers engaging one of said tracks, and resilient means for controlling the movement of said door.
2. Door guiding means comprising in combination, a plate secured to a door frame, a bracket mounted on a door, a pivot pin connecting said plate to said bracket, said plate being formed with a plurality of arcuate slots constituting tracks, said tracks being concentrically disposed with respect to said pin, a plurality of rollers on said bracket, each of said rollers engaging one Of said tracks, a lever pivotally connected at one end thereof to said plate and having a slot formed in its remaining end, the slotted end of said lever being connected to said bracket through the medium of one of said rollers, and a cloil spring at the pivoted end of said lever, one end of said spring being anchored to said lever and the remaining end thereof being anchored to said plate.
3. The device as defined in claim 2, together with arcuate flanges on said plate, said flanges being disposed adjacent the edges of said arcuate slots.
