The present invention relates to refinements and improvements in hair cutting cloths and aprons such as are currently used in barber shops, beauty parlors and similar establishments.

The object of the invention is to provide novel ways and means whereby the neck yoke of the cloth or apron may be comformably and comfortably applied to the neck of the wearer, the means being such as to afford suitable and proper adjustments, and the result being that the yoke fits readily and aptly in place, this with requisite adaptability.

In carrying out the principles of the invention two elastic straps are employed, a front strap to aptly embrace the throat of the wearer, and a back or rear strap to fit with requisite finesse across the back of the wearers neck.

Novelty is thought to reside in the provision of a bodily detachable elastic front strap with end fasteners attachable to selectively usable companion fasteners located, when the cloth is in use, on substantially diametrically opposite side portions of the wearers neck.

An added feature has to do with the provision of a complemental elastic rear or back strap which provides desired tensioning and take up results and is detachably and adjustably cooperable with the connectable ends of the neck yoke.

Other objects and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawings.

In the accompanying sheet of drawings, wherein like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the views:

Figure 1 is a fragmentary plan view showing that end of the apron or hair cloth provided with the usual horseshoe-shaped yoke, the same being suitably reinforced and constructed in accordance with the principles of this invention.

Figure 2 is a view showing in plan and edge elevation the front strap.

Figure 3 is a group view in elevation showing the plan and edge versions of the rear strap.

Figure 4 is a view based on Figure 1 showing the two straps applied to the yoke in readiness for use of the hair cloth.

Figure 5 is an enlarged cross section on the line 5-5 of Figure 4.

Figure 6 is a view showing the hair cloth in use, observing the wearer from the front.

Figure '7 is a view similar to Figure 6 showing the appearance from the rear of the wearer.

Th apron or cloth, which is of customary form, is denoted by the numeral 9, the same being notched at its so-called upper end to provide a U-shaped yoke Ill. The central portion of the yoke is denoted by the numeral H and the con nected ends by the numerals, l2 and i3.

0n opposite sides of the central portion, and on the exterior surface I provide a pair of companion glove or snap fasteners l4 and I5. Outwardly of these fastenersare additional snap fasteners, groups of three or more, denoted by thenumerals Hi to the left and IT to the right in Figure 1. Normally the two fasteners l4 and I5 serve to accommodate the female-snap fasteners IS on the ends of the front yoke strap IS. The rear strap is denoted by the numeral 20 and is provided with a plurality of female fasteners 2! releasably connectable with the fasteners l6 and H.

The strap [9, throat or front strap, is fashioned from a piece of appropriate rubber and is preferably some six inches in length, one sixteenth of an inch thick and one and one-quarter of an inch in width. It is provided merely with just two snap fasteners, female fasteners, at the opposite ends. In practice it is attached at the left in Figure 4 before the apron is applied. In this position it is in readiness for conforming overlapping relationship with the parts of the yoke which, in practice, underlie it. The stretching action of this strap creates the necessary tension to effect a snug and comfortable feeling on the throat of the wearer.

The remaining strap 20 is formed from a five and five-eighths of an inch rubber strap which is also one-sixteenth of an inch thick, and one and one-quarter of an inch in width. The complemental snap fasteners l4, l5, l6 and I! on the apron are located on opposite sides of the central area II as shown in Figure 1 and approximately one inch apart. The rear or back strap 20 is employed obviously to take up slack and to complete the all around snug fitting action desired. There is sufficient available adjustment to permit a correct fit to be obtained.

It is believed that an analysis of the description and comparison thereof with the various views of the drawing will be found sufficient to afford the reader a clear understanding of the construction and method of use under consideration.

Changes in shape, size, materials and rearrangement of details and parts may be resorted to in actual practice, so long as they do not depart from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims, as is well understood.

I claim:

1. A barbers hair cutting cloth of the type de- J scribed comprising a cloth of customary form and style provided at one end with a notch defining a neck embracing yoke, the bight portion of said yoke being provided on opposite sides of the median area with groups of closely spaced snap fasteners, and an elastic strap adapted to bridge the throat of the wearer, said strap being also adapted to contact intimately and conform to the marginal contour of the coacting bight portiomof-the yoke and beingprovidedaat each end Witha 'snap fastener engage'able selectively and releasably with the first named snap fasteners.
