vision of a device of lthis chandelier, wherein'non d the mounting thereof upon ai'hand' sawi through motion of:the-lattereindthelcuttirrgof` work the sawdust-;that accumulatesyattthe kerfs madeby the vteethof .-the saw in its oper tion willaway, the. device being a'ct'ugtg?di`v sole motion-.ofthe saw when in use,1` V' imction as-;a lower medium will be silenced in its and novel manner, the piston being actuated through motion imparted to the hand saw.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, where the working of :the piston which f same can be readily and easily detachably applied in position on the hand saw for the working of such device when handling the said saw for the cutting of work, the device being held within a spring clip attached to the handle end of the saw A still further object ofthe invention is the provision of a device of this charatcer, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable :and efficient in the operation thereof, readily and easily attached to a hand saw, strong, durable,
self-operating, compact, and inexpensive to manufacture and install.
With these and other objects in View the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompany drawing, which shows the preferred form of the invention, and thereinafter pointed out in the claims annexed hereto.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevation of a hand saw showing the device constructed in accordance with the invention applied thereto.
Figure 2 is a front end view of the device held within a mounting therefor.
Figure 3 is a Sectional View taken on the line 3--3 of Figure 2 lookin-g in the direction of the arrows.
Figure 4 is a view similar to Figure 3 looking toward the other or rear end of the device.
Figure 5 is a side view of the mounting oli-p for v the device.
Figure 6 is a partial sectional View taken on the line 6-6 of Figure 2 looking in the direction' of the arrows.
Figure 7 is a perspective view of the piston Referring to the drawing in detail, A designates motion in a unique 15 constituting the pre after set forth in detail.
. .b ei sufficient to all travel of the piston IS therein for a blowing operation in a manner presently described.
The piston 13 at the center thereof longitudinally of the axis of the cylinder ll) has provided therein an opening [4 which extends through the opposite faces of the said piston, has compressed therein rubber strands 15 which seal such opening and protrude beyond the opposite faces of the same for a determined distance to provide bumper areas it to contact the inner walls of the end heads II and l2, respectively, to silence any pounding action of the piston l3 when the same is reciprocated within the cylinder l0 in the operation of the device, the resiliency of the stran'ds I5 being effective for absorbing the impact of the piston on the said heads.
In the head l l is provided an aperture l'l which in its disposition is arranged at one side of the teeth lB of the blade A of the saw, yet close to the row of such teeth when the cylinder isattached to the said saw the piston I3 in the operation thereof will blow sawdust from the kerf cut by the saw in the use thereof for cutting of work. Additionally, this head ll is provided with a channel lil for the seating of the inner end edge of the blade A of the saw therein to properly set the device as to the opening ll with relation thereto.
The other head IZ is provided with several apertures 26 which are adapted to -expel air from the cylinder IB when the piston l3 moves rearwardly therein when the latter is operating under motion imparted to the saw in the use there- The heads ll and l2 are removably fitted in the ends of the cylinder in any suitable manner for secure attachment thereto in the successful operation of the device.
Fitted to the lowermost edge of the handle B of the saw by fasteners 2l is the outstruck crown portion 22 of a cylinder clip or hanger mounting 23 having the two pairs of springy snapengaging arms 24, which are located at opposite ends of the said clip or mounting for the firm The arms 24 are provided with inturned holding ears 25 so as to avoid any d isplacement of the cylinder n within the cups as might eecuin the use of the saw when cutting work.
When the device is worn on the saw and the latter is in use, the reciprocation of the same results in forcing the piston I3 back and forth.V
When this piston moves forward in the cylinder I a blowing action takes place through the aperture I'Irin the head II directing air under pressure in the direction of the teeth l8 working in the kerf cut thereby in a piece of work so as to blow away the sawdust from such kerf, the device being automatically operated under the motion of the saw when manually handled for sawing purposes. i
What is claimed is:
A dust elim-inator device of the kind described, comprising a cylinder having front and rearrinset end heads, a floating piston reciprocatively movable withinv the cylinder, a channel formed in the front end head to receive the rear edge of a saw blade, an aperture in said front end head on one side of said channel adjacent the lower end thereof, a plurality of relatively spaced apertures in the rear end head of said cylinder, a central longitudinally axial opening provided in the piston, rubber strands compressed therein and protruding beyond the ends thereof to act as a noise silencer 'for the piston and for cushioning action thereof against the heads of the cylinder on reciprocation of the said piston therein, and
Vmeans for mounting said cylinder, said means being attached to the lower surface of the saw handle, and said aperture being located to one side of the saw blade and substantially in alignmentwith the teeth of the saw so that air emittedfrom the aperture in said front end head will be blown directly over the cutting teeth of the saw blade.
