ARTIST'S PALETTE Filed June 28, 1941 INVENTOR ll'hlsei o Patented Jan. 27, 1942 UNITED STATE 5 PATENT OFFICE This invention relates to an artists palette. An object of my invention is to provide a palette that can be supported in a balanced con- I dition on the arm.
Another object is to provide a palette that will not slip off the arm.
A further object is to provide a palette that is attractive in appearance.
A still further object is to provide a palette that is simple in construction and inexpensive to manufacture.
The improved palette is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which- Fig. 1 is a view of my improved palette positioned on the arm.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the improved palette.
The improvedpalette has a flat body portion 5 formed of wood or other suitable material and is substantially rectangular in shape. One of the short edges is provided with a cut-away portion or recess 6 and spaced inwardly from said recess and within a hands reach thereof is 'a thumb opening 1.
Along one of the long edges of the body is formed a recess 8. Thewall of thisrecess at the end thereof closest to the thumb opening I is provided with a shoulder or nose portion 9.
In use, the palette is positioned on the arm ill with the thumb through the opening 1 and the fingers around and gripping the wall of the re cess 6. The forearm is positioned in the recess 8 so that the nose portion 9 interlocks therewith. When in this position, the palette is in proper balance on the arm and is prevented from slipping oil by the nose 9.
I claim:
An artists palette comprising a substantially rectangular body portion having one of its short edges formed with a recess and a thumb opening adjacent thereto and formed with a recess along one of the long edges suficiently large to receive the forearm of the user and a nose portion formed at the end of said recess nearest the thumb opening to prevent the body portion falling off the forearm.
