1 Claim.
This invention relates to stoves and more particularly to camp stoves.
The primary object of this invention resides in the provision of a knock-down camp stove adapted to be readily assembled without regard to whether or not the top and bottom or opposite edges of the jacket thereof are disposed in inverted or reverse position relative to its co-related elements.
Another object of this invention resides in the provision of a knock-down camp stove consisting of an embodiment of co-related elements adapted to be assembled and disassembled in the minimum length of time. A further object of this invention resides in the provision of a knock-down camp stove having a particularly constructed jacket.
A still further object of this invention resides in the provision of a knock-down camp stove having a particularly constructed jacket adapted to support a particularly constructed fire-pot.
Aside from the aforesaid objects, this invention resides in the provision of a knock-down camp stove having a particularly constructed fire- 25 pot adapted to support a particularly constructed movable grate.
Among the many objects of this invention is the provision of a knock-down camp stove having a particularly constructed face plate adapted to be connected to certain free edges of the jacket.
With these and other objects in view, this invention resides in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of elements to be here- 5 inafter more particularly described in the specification, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim and, while this disclosure depicts the preferred embodiment of the several co-related elements, the right is 40 reserved to resort to such changes in construction and arrangement of parts as come within the scope of the claim.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this application:
Fig. 1 is a side View of a knock-down camp stove as constructed in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 is a front view thereof.
50 Fig. 3 is a front view of the fire-pot.
Fig. 4 is a plan view thereof.
Fig. 5 is a vertical sectional view, approximately on line 55 of Fig. 2 of the stove, the legs thereof being shown by dotted lines.
55 Fig. 6 is a front view of the jacket per se.
Fig. 7 is a detail View of the jacket in stretched out condition.
In the present embodiment of this invention the numeral 5 designates, in general, a knockdown camp stove which preferably consists of a 5 cast iron face-plate 6 provided with a fuel feeding opening I and an ash removal opening 8 which are covered by suitable doors-9 hingedly connected thereto and retained in closed position by any approved type of catch, it being understood 10 that draft controlling dampers or other suitable elements may be secured to either one or both doors to permit proper operation of the stove.
Formed adjacent each vertical edge of the face plate is a series of apertures [0 with which is 15 adapted to register similar apertures l I formed in a sheet metal jacket I2 to facilitate securing the jacket to the face plate by bolts [3 without regard to whether or not the top and bottom or opposite perforated edges of the jacket is inverted or reversed.
Secured at the top and bottom of the assembled face plate and jacket as by means of bolts [4 or the like is an upper and lower head [5 and I6, respectively, which are formed of cast iron or any other suitable material, said heads are provided with inwardly extending annular rims I6 adapted to maintain the sheet metal jacket in sealed relation therewith and establish rigidity therebetween. The aforesaid heads are further provided with outwardly extending flanges l1 against which the upper and lower edges, designated 23 and 24 respectively, of the jacket hear so as to enhance the stability of the assemblage heretofore set forth, said upper head is provided with a smoke-pipe collar [8 and a removable lid H! to facilitate placing a cooking utensil in direct contact with heat within the stove, while the lower head is provided with a series of apertures 20 adjacent the periphery thereof for reception of suitable bolts 2| adapted to secure legs 22 thereto as set forth in my copending application.
Formed in the jacket on a horizontal plane exactly midway between its upper and lower edges 23 and 24 are apertures 25 adapted to register with similar apertures 26 formed in a substantially inverted conical shaped fire-pot 21 to receive suitable bolts 28 so as to secure the fire-pot to the jacket in the same relation to the face-plate whether or not the jacket is inverted or reversed when connected to the face plate.
The jacket is also provided with apertures 29 adjacent its upper and lower edges to register with similar apertures in the rims of the heads, it being understood that the apertures 29 are also disposed so they will register with those in the rims regardless of whether or not the bottom and top or opposite perforated edges of the jacket are inverted or reversed.
Preferably extending from the lower edge of the fire-pot are spaced lugs 30 adapted to form rests for a suitable rotatable grate 3| having a shaker arm 32 extending toward the front of the stove in the region of the ash removal door Where access thereto may be conveniently obtained to actuate the grate.
The fire-pot has its upper front portion cutout as at 33 to obviate obstruction of the fuel opening in the face plate where the lower edge thereof terminates on the line designated by the letter S.
With this invention fully described it is manifest that a camp stove is introduced which can be readily assembled and disassembled and, through the simplicity of the co-related elements, the same can be manufactured and sold at a nominal price. 7
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
A stove of the character set forth comprising a face plate ,having a series of equally spaced aligned bolt receiving apertures adjacent its longer edges and other bolt receiving apertures disposed midway between the first mentioned apertures adjacent its shorter edges, said face plate also having door openings therein, hinged doors covering the door openings, a substantially rectangular jacket having a series of bolt receiving apertures arranged along a straight center line located centrally between two opposite edges of the jacket, said apertures being disposed in pairs symmetrically with respect to the center line of the jacket extending between the remaining side edges, said jacket having other sets of bolt receiving apertures disposed symmetrically with respect to said lines and located adjacent the respective edges of the jacket certain of said apertures being adapted to register with companion apertures in the face plate, a lower head having bolt receiving apertures adapted to register with certain apertures in the face plate and jacket, an upper head'having bolt receiving apertures adapted to register with certain other apertures in the face plate and jacket, a grate having apertures adapted to register with certain other apertures in the jacket and fastening elements passing through the aforesaid apertures for securing the component parts of the stove in set up condition.
