1 Claim.
This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in display stands, and is a continuation in part of the divided subject matter of my co-pending application Serial No. 77,053, flied April 29, 1936, for Stand constructions.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a theft-proof stand for holding cans or bottles of oil and other merchandise such as is sold at service stations, constructed in such a manner as to be quickly assembled or dis-assembled.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a stand wherein the parts are held together by a single securing element which when removed will permit complete dismantling of the structure without any human exertion.
These and various other important objedtsand advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following specification.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 represents a vertical sectional view through the stand and jacket therefor.
Figure 2 is a section on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a perspective exploded view of the upper portion of the stand proper showing the manner in which the parts can be readily dis-assembled.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the post.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that the stand consists of the concrete foundation 5 upon which the base plate 6 is disposed and secured to the foundation by suitable anchoring members 1. A collar or socket structure 8 is secured to the base plate 6 by welding, bolting, or otherwise, and this receives the lower end of the hollow post 9 which is securedto the collar by rivets ill, or by bolts if desired.
Numeral I I refers to a number of trays, each of which is provided with a circumferential upstanding edge portion l2 and a central opening l3. The post 8 extends through the central openings l3, and to maintain the trays l l properly spaced one above the other, spacing sleeves M are provided. These sleeves may be made in any desired length. For instance, a short sleeve l5 can be interposed between the base collar 8- and the overlying tray I I, while elongated sleeves M can be used for spac ing the trays a substantial distance apart. If the trays are to be closer together, for small cans of grease and other items, a shorter sleeve Hi can be employed as well as between the uppermost tray I l and the flange collar [6 at the top of the post 9 which prevents displacement of the trays and sleeves from the post, but'whichitself may be removed-by disengaging thebolt [1, which passes through the collar and through the upper portion of the post. The circumferential flange of the collar it has the disc top l8 secured thereto by any suitable means.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size, and materials, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and-scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
A stand comprising an anchored base, apost rising from the base, a plurality of removable spacing sleeves on the post, a plurality of trays removably disposed on the post and being spaced apart by said spacing sleeves, a top plate, means on the bottom side of the top plate for removably securing the top plate to the top of the post, and a case open at its upper and lower ends and constructed in sections, fastening means between the sections of the case whereby the case can be removably disposed around the trays, said top plate being of a diameter greater than that of the case so that the upper end of the case will abut the bot- I tom of the top plate when the case is in closed position around the trays.
