Description

Jv G. LENTA May 9, 1939.
FINGER COT Filed July 13, 1938 6m NTOR. BY I j y 0"? Patented May 9, 1939 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to finger cots or stalls, and has special reference to one particularly adapted to the protection and shielding of manicured hands, tinted fingernails, or the like, during the conduct of household duties such as dishwashing, etc.
The principal object of the invention is to provide as simple and efiicient a device as possible for the purpose.
Another object is to provide one that will care especially for pointed or sharpened colored fingernails.
Still another object is that of providing simple means to expedite the applying and removal of same from the hand.
Further objects and advantages of the invention will appear in the following description thereof.
Referring now to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this application, and wherein like reference characters indicate like parts:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of one of the improved finger cots.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of Figure 1 as the cot might appear as applied to a finger.
Figure 3 is a side elevation of Figure 1.
The numeral I represents the principal body portion of the cot, made preferably of suitable thin rubber, properly shaped in accordance with the hand of an average lady's finger, though amply small to require considerable expansion when applied to the finger to exclude moisture, etc., and in fact they may be made of varying sizes to fit the average index, little and middle fingers, if desired.
A novel feature of the improved cot is that the upper portion and end of the tip of same is reinforced as by a double thickness of the material of which the cot is made, and indicated for example at 2, this portion being preferably in the form of the nail of the finger. Internally of said reinforcement is provided an arcuately shaped groove 3 for the reception of the pointed end of the fingernail so that in the manipulation 5 of objects, when the hand is so shielded, the liability of damage to the fingernail or the coloring thereof, is reduced to a minimum.
Furthermore the rearmost body portion of the cot is provided with a circumferential enlarge- 10 ment or head indicated at 4 for further reinforcement of same, and from this bead extends integrally formed flaps, the one indicated at S from the upper portion of the cot and the one indicated at 6 from the lower portion thereof, the latter one 6 being considerably longer than the former for convenience in drawing the cot upon the finger. These flaps are provided at their rearmost tips with an enlargement of the material of which they are composed, for example 20 as illustrated at 1, and which I prefer to have formed as small cube like knobs.
It is to be understood that modifications and changes from that illustrated in the drawing, but
yet within the scope of the claim, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
A finger cot of the character described having 30 a reinforcing bead defining the rear open end of the cot, characterized by having a pair of spaced manipulating tabs extending rearwardly thereof, the lowermost one of which is materially longer than the upper one, and an enlarged gripping member for each tab for convenience in the quick manipulation of the cot.
