12 Claims. (Cl. 230-114) mounted on the shaft My invention relates to fans and in particular to a meansof controlling a volume ofair andthe movement of the air through the fan in order to insure the maximum efllciency of the 'fan at varying volumes.
It is my object to regulate the quantity of the air, at the same time using a regulating means as a means of guiding the air, so the variation in quantity of air will not disturb the efliciency of the fan for'the volume being handled.
It is my particular object to provide a fan of the type having an axial entry and a radial peripheral'delivery of the air with a Venturi shaped passageway to the fan, with which is sociated a conical slidable inlet damper that reciprocates to and from and within the Venturi shaped conical inlet passageway. 1 v
It is my further object to provide in association therewith a plurality of arcuate axially disposed radially arranged guide vanes so as to guide the entering air between the sliding damper and the volute passageway through the passageway and to cause it to take a preliminary whirl when entering the fan.
