Abstract

In some examples the customized target system includes a second customizable-ornament or the like. Preferably, the customized target system is a custom disc golf basket that can be personalized to accommodate user preferences.

Description

    CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • The present application is related to and claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62/664,756 filed Apr. 30, 2018, which is incorporated by reference herein in its entirety.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present disclosure. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art nor material to the presently described or claimed inventions, nor that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates generally to the field of games and more specifically relates to a target game apparatus.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • Many people play games for entertainment. Currently all disc golf baskets are generic in appearance and similar to one another. There is not an effective means for individuals to personalize their basket to reflect their interests and tastes. A suitable solution is desired.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 6,554,285 to Fred C. Chittenden relates to a disc golf target. The described disc golf target includes a plurality of chain segments which are suspended from a support member by generally U-shaped attachment loops. The attachment loops have upwardly and outwardly sloped side portions, so that the energy of the disc is absorbed and dissipated by spreading and lifting the chain segments as the disc strikes the target assembly. The support member, attachment loops and chain segments may be mounted on a vertical support, and the assembly may include a basket that is mounted beneath the support and chain segments for receiving the disc therefrom.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known game apparatus art, the present disclosure provides a novel personalized disc golf target. The general purpose of the present disclosure, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a custom disc golf basket that can be personalized to accommodate user preferences.
  • A customized target system is disclosed herein. The customized target system includes a support-section which may include a vertical-axis relative to a ground-surface, the support-section may have a first-end, a second-end opposite the first-end, and a length therebetween. A target-section may be attached along the length of the support-section. The target-section may include a top-section, a plurality of chains and a basket-section, the basket-section may have a capacity configured to receive the at least one flying disc. The plurality of chains may hang vertically from a periphery of the top-section and terminate in the basket-section. A first customizable-ornament may be attached to the second-end of the support-section and define a top of the vertical-axis, the first customizable-ornament may have a chosen-theme. Further, a base may be attached to the first-end of the support section and define a bottom of the vertical-axis. The base may be configured to support the customized target system on the ground-surface.
  • A method of using customized target system is also disclosed herein. The method of using customized target system may comprise the steps of: a providing the customized target system as above; choosing a chosen-theme; choosing at least one of the plurality of first customizable-ornaments from the chosen-theme; and attaching the at least one of the plurality of first customizable-ornaments to the second-end of the support-section.
  • For purposes of summarizing the invention, certain aspects, advantages, and novel features of the invention have been described herein. It is to be understood that not necessarily all such advantages may be achieved in accordance with any one particular embodiment of the invention. Thus, the invention may be embodied or carried out in a manner that achieves or optimizes one advantage or group of advantages as taught herein without necessarily achieving other advantages as may be taught or suggested herein. These and other features, aspects, and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings and detailed description.

  • The various embodiments of the present invention will hereinafter be described in conjunction with the appended drawings, wherein like designations denote like elements.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • As discussed above, embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a game apparatus and more particularly to a personalized disc golf target.
  • Generally disclosed is a conventional disc golf basket with the main basket portion and chain assembly. It allows for customizable options to showcase an individual's personal tastes and preferences. The device includes baskets with sports teams/logos, drinks, business logos, musical instruments, and more. The present invention enables users to differentiate themselves from others by way of their basket. The baskets may be made of both pipe and tubed steel, as well as plastic. The chains on the basket may be plastic or metal. There may be baskets in various sizes. The basket is similar in structure to an existing disc golf basket, but can include customizable designs and themes, such as sports, teams, beverages, businesses, etc. The design possibilities are virtually endless however the present invention enables its use and alternate versions are envisioned. The exact specifications may vary.
  • Referring now more specifically to the drawings by numerals of reference, there is shown in FIGS. 1-4, various views of a customized target system 100.
  • FIG. 1 shows a customized target system 100 during an ‘in-use’ condition 150, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As illustrated, the customized target system 100 may include a support-section 110, a target-section 120, a first customizable-ornament 130 and a base 140. The customized target system 100 may be used for capturing at least one flying disc 5.
  • FIG. 2 shows a front perspective view of the customized target system 100 of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The support-section 110 may include a vertical-axis 112 relative to a ground-surface. The support-section 110 may have a first-end 114, a second-end 116 opposite the first-end 114, and a length 118 therebetween. Further, as shown, the base 140 may be base 140 attached to the first-end 114 of the support section and define a bottom of the vertical-axis 112. The base 140 may be configured to support the customized target system 100 on the ground-surface.
  • FIG. 3 shows a side-front perspective view of the customized target system 100 of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The target-section 120 may be attached along the length 118 of the support-section 110. The target-section 120 may include a top-section 122, a plurality of chains 124 and a basket-section 126; the basket-section 126 having a capacity configured to receive the at least one flying disc 5. The plurality of chains 124 may hang vertically from a periphery of the top-section 122 and terminating in the basket-section 126. Preferably, the basket-section 126 may include a first functional decorative-design 127. Similarly, the top-section 122 may include a second functional decorative-design 129.
  • The basket-section 126, the plurality of chains 124 and the top-section 122 may be constructed from a metal-material. In one embodiment, the metal material may be a tubed steel. In another embodiment, the basket-section 126, the top-section 122 and the plurality of chains 124 may be constructed from a plastic material. It should be appreciated that the basket-section 126, top-section 122 and the plurality of chains 124 may or may not be constructed from the same materials.
  • FIG. 4 shows a side-front perspective view of the customized target system 100 of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown, the first customizable-ornament 130 may be attached to the second-end 116 of the support-section 110 and may define a top of the vertical-axis 112. The first customizable-ornament 130 may have a chosen-theme. Further, the customized target system 100 may comprise a second customizable-ornament 150. The first customizable-ornament 130 and the second customizable-ornament 150 may include a same chosen-theme. In addition to this, the first functional decorative design and the second functional decorative design may include the same chosen-theme. For same chosen-theme may be sports (such as basketball, football, tennis, cricket), music, musical instruments, logos, etc.
  • The second customizable-ornament 150 may be placed along the length 118 of the support-section 110 based on the chosen-theme. For example, the second customizable-ornament 150 may be attached, at least partially, along the length 118 of the support-section 110. In another example, the second customizable-ornament 150 covers the length 118 of the support-section 110.
  • The first customizable-ornament 130 may be a head of a guitar and the second customizable-ornament 150 may be a body of the guitar. In this embodiment, the second customizable-ornament 150 may be attached partially along the length 118 of the support-section 110. In one embodiment, the first customizable-ornament 130 may be a baseball and the second customizable-ornament 150 may be a baseball bat. In this embodiment, the baseball bat 140 may make up the entire length 118. Further, in another embodiment, the first customizable-ornament 130 may be a basket. In yet another embodiment, at least one of the first-customizable ornament and the second customizable-ornament 150 may be a logo.
  • FIG. 5 is a flow diagram 550 illustrating a method of customizing a customized target system 500, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As illustrated, the method of customizing a customized target system 500 may include the steps of: providing 501 the customized target system as above; choosing 502 a chosen-theme; choosing 503 at least one of the plurality of first customizable-ornaments from the chosen-theme; and attaching 504 the at least one of the plurality of first customizable-ornaments to the second-end of the support-section. Further steps may include: providing 505 the customized target system further including a plurality of second customizable-ornaments; choosing 506 at least one of the plurality of second customizable-ornaments; and attaching 507 at least partially, the at least one of the plurality of second customizable-ornaments along the length of the support-section.
  • It should be noted that the steps described in the method of use can be carried out in many different orders according to user preference. The use of “step of” should not be interpreted as “step for”, in the claims herein and is not intended to invoke the provisions of 35 U.S.C. § 112(f). It should also be noted that, under appropriate circumstances, considering such issues as design preference, user preferences, marketing preferences, cost, structural requirements, available materials, technological advances, etc., other methods for customized target system 100 (e.g., different step orders within above-mentioned list, elimination or addition of certain steps, including or excluding certain maintenance steps, etc.), are taught herein.
  • The embodiments of the invention described herein are exemplary and numerous modifications, variations and rearrangements can be readily envisioned to achieve substantially equivalent results, all of which are intended to be embraced within the spirit and scope of the invention. Further, the purpose of the foregoing abstract is to enable the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the public generally, and especially the scientist, engineers and practitioners in the art who are not familiar with patent or legal terms or phraseology, to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and essence of the technical disclosure of the application.

Claims (20)

What is claimed is new and desired to be protected by Letters Patent is set forth in the appended claims:
1. A customized target system for capturing at least one flying disc, the customized target system comprising:
a support-section including a vertical-axis relative to a ground-surface, the support-section having a first-end, a second-end opposite the first-end, and a length therebetween;
a target-section attached along the length of the support-section, the target-section including a top-section, a plurality of chains and a basket-section, the basket-section having a capacity configured to receive the at least one flying disc, the plurality of chains hanging vertically from a periphery of the top-section and terminating in the basket-section;
a first customizable-ornament attached to the second-end of the support-section and defining a top of the vertical-axis, the first customizable-ornament having a chosen-theme; and
a base attached to the first-end of the support section and defining a bottom of the vertical-axis, the base being configured to support the customized target system on the ground-surface.
2. The customized target system of claim 1, further comprising a second customizable-ornament.
3. The customized target system of claim 2, wherein the second customizable-ornament is attached, at least partially, along the length of the support-section.
4. The customized target system of claim 2, wherein the second customizable-ornament covers the length of the support-section.
5. The customized target system of claim 2, wherein the first customizable-ornament and the second customizable-ornament have a same chosen-theme.
6. The customized target system of claim 5, wherein the first customizable-ornament is a head of a guitar, and wherein the second customizable-ornament is a body of the guitar.
7. The customized target system of claim 1, wherein the first customizable-ornament is a baseball.
8. The customized target system of claim 7, wherein the first customizable-ornament is a baseball, and wherein the second customizable-ornament is a baseball bat.
9. The customized target system of claim 1, wherein the first customizable-ornament is a basketball.
10. The customized target system of claim 2, wherein at least one of the first-customizable ornament and the second customizable-ornament is a logo.
11. The customized target system of claim 1, wherein the basket-section is constructed from a metal-material.
12. The customized target system of claim 11, wherein the metal material is tubed steel.
13. The customized target system of claim 1, wherein the basket-section is constructed from a plastic-material.
14. The customized target system of claim 1, wherein the plurality of chains are constructed from the metal-material.
15. The customized target system of claim 1, wherein the plurality of chains are constructed from the plastic-material.
16. The customized target system of claim 1, wherein the basket includes a first functional decorative-design.
17. The customized target system of claim 1, wherein the top-section includes a second functional decorative-design.
18. A customized target system for capturing at least one flying disc, the customized target system comprising:
a support-section including a vertical-axis relative to a ground-surface, the support-section having a first-end, a second-end opposite the first-end, and a length therebetween;
a target-section attached along the length of the support-section, the target-section including a top-section, a plurality of chains and a basket-section, the basket-section having a capacity configured to receive the at least one flying disc, the plurality of chains hanging vertically from a periphery of the top-section and terminating in the basket-section;
a first customizable-ornament attached to the second-end of the support-section and defining a top of the vertical-axis, the first customizable-ornament having a chosen-theme;
a second customizable-ornament; and
a base attached to the first-end of the support section and defining a bottom of the vertical-axis, the base being configured to support the customized target system on the ground-surface; and
wherein the second customizable-ornament is attached, at least partially, along the length of the support-section;
wherein the first customizable-ornament and the second customizable-ornament have a same chosen-theme;
wherein the basket-section is constructed from a metal-material;
wherein the plurality of chains are constructed from the metal-material;
wherein the basket includes a first functional decorative-design; and
wherein the top-section includes a second functional decorative-design.
19. A method of customizing a customized target system, the method comprising the steps of:
providing the customized target system including:
a support-section including a vertical-axis relative to a ground-surface, the support-section having a first-end, a second-end opposite the first-end, and a length therebetween;
a target-section attached along the length of the support-section, the target-section including a top-section, a plurality of chains and a basket-section, the basket-section having a capacity configured to receive at least one flying disc, the plurality of chains hanging vertically from a periphery of the top-section and terminating in the basket-section;
a plurality of first customizable-ornament for attachment to the second-end of the support-section and defining a top of the vertical-axis, the plurality of first customizable-ornament having a chosen-theme; and
a base attached to the first-end of the support section and defining a bottom of the vertical-axis, the base being configured to support the customized target system on the ground-surface;
choosing a chosen-theme;
choosing at least one of the plurality of first customizable-ornaments from the chosen-theme; and
attaching the at least one of the plurality of first customizable-ornaments to the second-end of the support-section.
20. The method of claim 19, further comprising the steps of:
providing the customized target system further including a plurality of second customizable-ornaments;
choosing at least one of the plurality of second customizable-ornaments; and
attaching, at least partially, the at least one of the plurality of second customizable-ornaments along the length of the support-section.
