- The disclosure and prior art relates to retention devices and more particularly pertains to a new retention device for retaining a wig on a head.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a hair cap that may be worn on a head. A wig is coupled to the hair cap and the wig is positioned on the head when the hair cap is worn. A plurality of clips is provided and each of the clips is coupled to the hair cap. Each of the clips engages a braid woven into hair on the head thereby facilitating the wig to be retained on the head.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of a wig retention assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a detail view taken fromcircle 4 ofFIG. 2 of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new retention device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 4 , thewig retention assembly 10 generally comprises ahair cap 12 that may be worn on ahead 14. Thehair cap 12 has afirst surface 16, asecond surface 18 and aperimeter edge 20. Thehair cap 12 may be comprised of a mesh material and thehair cap 12 may be a wig hair cap of any conventional design. Awig 22 is coupled to thehair cap 12 such that thewig 22 is positioned on thehead 14 when thehair cap 12 is worn. Thewig 22 is attached to thefirst surface 16 of thehair cap 12 and thewig 22 may be a natural hair wig, a synthetic hair wig and any other type ofwig 22. - A plurality of
clips 24 is provided and each of theclips 24 is coupled to thehair cap 12. Each of theclips 24 engages abraid 26 woven into hair on thehead 14 thereby facilitating thewig 22 to be retained on thehead 14. Each of theclips 24 comprises aframe 28 that has a plurality of intersectingmembers 30. Each of the intersectingmembers 30 has a plurality ofapertures 32 extending therethrough and theapertures 32 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed around theframe 28. Theframe 28 is positioned on thesecond surface 18 of thehair cap 12 and theframe 28 is aligned with theperimeter edge 20 of thehair cap 12. Moreover, the plurality of intersectingmembers 30 includes afirst member 34 that is spaced from asecond member 36. - Each of the
clips 24 includes a comb 38 that is coupled to thefirst member 34. The comb 38 extends across theframe 28 to lie on thesecond member 36. Moreover, the comb 38 is biased to frictionally engage thesecond member 36. The comb 38 is extended into thebraid 26 in the hair such that the comb 38 compresses the hair against thesecond member 36. In this way thehair cap 12 is retained on thehead 14. - A
fastener 40 extends through theapertures 32 on theframe 28 and engages thehair cap 12. Thus, theframe 28 and the comb 38 are fastened to thehair cap 12. Thefastener 40 may be a string that is threaded through theframe 28 and thehair cap 12 such that thefastener 40 is sewn to thehair cap 12. Additionally, thefastener 40 may be any type ofmechanical fastener 40. - In use, a
braid 26 is woven into the hair on thehead 14 such that thebraid 26 extends around thehead 14 near the hairline. Thehair cap 12 is positioned on thehead 14 and each of theclips 24 is manipulated to engage thebraid 26. In this way thewig 22 is secured to thehead 14 in a manner that inhibits thewig 22 from being removed from thehead 14. Thus, thewig 22 may be worn with confidence in windy conditions, during athletic activities and other times that could potentially cause thewig 22 to fall off. Additionally, theclips 24 facilitate thewig 22 to be secured without the use of adhesives and other non permanent means of fastening thewig 22. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
