- The disclosure and prior art relates to insulated garments and more particularly pertains to a new insulated garment for retaining body heat.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a shirt that may be worn. The shirt is comprised of a thermally insulating material to minimize heat transfer between a user and ambient air. The shirt has short sleeves such that the shirt only thermally insulates the user's torso.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of a thermally insulated garment assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a back view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a front view of an alternative embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new insulated garment embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , the thermally insulatedgarment assembly 10 generally comprises ashirt 12 that is comprised of a thermally insulating material to minimize heat transfer between auser 14 and ambient air. The thermally insulating material may be a proprietary thermal material such as Thinsulate or the like, fleece, a mixture of synthetic materials and any textile known to have thermally insulating qualities. Theshirt 12 hasshort sleeves 16 such that theshirt 12 only thermally insulates the user'storso 18. In this way theshirt 12 enhances comfort for theuser 14 by reducing arm perspiration when theshirt 12 is worn beneath additional clothing. Moreover, theshirt 12 may be manufactured in a variety of sizes thereby accommodating various sizes of male and female users. - The
shirt 12 has abody 20, aneckband 22 and a pair ofsleeve cuffs 23. Theneckband 22 defines a neck opening 24 in theshirt 12 and the user'sneck 26 is extended through the neck opening 24 when theshirt 12 is worn. Theneckband 22 is comprised of an elastic material to tighten around the user'sneck 26. In this way theneckband 22 inhibits body heat from passing between theneckband 22 and the user'sneck 26. - Each of the
sleeve cuffs 23 defines an arm opening 28 in an associated one of thesleeves 16. Each of the user'sarms 30 is extended through the arm opening 28 in theassociated sleeves 16. Additionally, each of thesleeve cuffs 23 is comprised of an elastic material wherein to tighten around the user'sarms 30. In this way thesleeve cuffs 23 inhibit body heat from passing between thesleeve cuffs 23 and the user'sarms 30. In analternative embodiment 32 as shown inFIG. 5 , theneckband 22 may define a v-neck opening and theshirt 12 may be manufactured with nosleeves 16. - In use, the
shirt 12 is selectively worn beneath other articles of clothing or independently to enhance retaining body heat. In this way theshirt 12 helps theuser 14 to stay warm in cold conditions such as fall and winter. Theshort sleeves 16 of theshirt 12 allow the user'sarms 30 to release heat thereby reducing arm perspiration. Thus, theshirt 12 allows for greater comfort forusers 14 who would be too warm in a long sleeved, thermally insulating shirt. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
