Description

    INCORPORATION BY REFERENCE
  • This application claims priority under 35 U.S.C. §119 to Taiwan patent application M437965, filed on May 23, 2012, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.
  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The invention is a structure of a sports eyeglasses. In particular, it relates to rims which can be removed from the frames. The rims have a structure from which optical glasses can be removed and changed conveniently.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Many diverse types of sports and other activities involves the use of sports eyewear. and other protective eye gear. There are many different types of eyeglasses and goggles that are appropriate for each types of activity. Protecting players from injury is a primary concern for any sport. The most vulnerable part of the body is the head, face, and eyes. Thus, protective face masks and eyewear are common in sports such as baseball, hockey, football, racquetball, squash, and lacrosse. Common conventional protective eyeglasses such as those used in swimming, diving, cycling, etc. generally have a cushion made of an elastic material such as a sponge or foam rubber to produce soft and comfortable feeling in wearing it on a face.
  • In general, manufacturers are continually striving to improve the impact resistance of protective eyewear. Improvements in the strength of the equipment, however, often cause the equipment to be too stiff, bulky, or obtrusive, and uncomfortable to wear. This discomfort can cause a player to wear the equipment improperly or not at all, thereby defeating any improvement in protection.
  • For example, in bad weather snow skiers want eye protection that prevents the penetration of wind, rain, snow, sleet, sand, dirt, dust and peripheral glare into the eyes. On the other hand, in fair weather, the desire for eye protection may be limited to protection against sun glare. Previously, eyewear goggles were necessary during bad weather. Goggles, however, are large, cumbersome, awkward and difficult to wear. Most skiers and other sports participants find this uncomfortable and undesirable. Most skiers and other sports participants prefer the fit and convenience offered by eye glasses which are lightly retained on the face of the user.
  • However, most people chooses to use goggles because, unlike eyeglasses, when conventional protective eyeglasses receives strike or shock, a wearer may suffer pain, harm or wound because of poor elasticity the cushions have, limited by its thickness and its elasticity coefficient. Furthermore, goggles are usually held in place by an elastic or adjustable head band, and therefore are more secure than eyeglasses. Furthermore, goggles to create a protective seal, the head band is positioned circumferentially around the back of the wearer's head. The head band is attached, at both ends, to the goggle mask which is bent around the wearer's face. In this manner, goggles provide a larger field of vision and a tight seal against the user” face thereby shielding the user's eyes from the elements.
  • Although goggles form a shielding seal around the face, goggles are not a preferred form of eyewear; goggles are typically large, non-rigid, bulky, awkward, and uncomfortable to the wearer. Also, goggles do not support temple bars because of their non-rigid frame. These problems may be substantially obviated by spectacle like frames with all of the protective benefits of goggles, while not impinging on the wearer's field of vision.
  • One type of sports spectacles is the “Sports eyeglasses protection structure”, patent No. M402732. It contains rims and a strap joined with the two sides of the rim. The rims is a one-piece structure, with two rim holes to lock in the lenses. Because the rim hole is designed to be enclosed, the rims can only lock with plain glasses that are elastic. It is not easy to lock or remove with optical glasses that are rigid and inflexible. Therefore, this kind of sports eyeglasses are not suitable for customers who need to use corrective lenses.
  • Another type of sports eyeglasses is the improved structure of sports eyeglasses with Patent No. M404391. It mainly contains rims and a protective pad. The protective pad is made of rubber. The protective pad is joined with the rims by welding.
  • However, as the protective pad is joined with the rim by welding, it cannot be removed nor changed easily. Therefore, this kind of eyeglasses only has one form, and cannot be changed to other forms. The only way to change the form of the spectacle is to reset the protective pad mold. The cost is too high; therefore, it is cost prohibited in the market.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • A sports eyeglasses apparatus is disclosed comprising a frame and a rim wherein the frame is comprised of a combined frame and a plurality of temples attached to the combined frame; wherein the rim is comprised of a first one rim hole and a second one rim hole wherein the rims holes are designed to lock in lenses wherein the first one rim hole and the second one rim hole are each comprised of an upper frame, a lower frame, an outer frame, and an inner frame wherein the first one rim hole and the second one rim hole are joined by a bridge wherein the width of the upper frame and the lower frame increases from a portion near the bridge to a portion opposite to the bridge wherein the upper frame and the lower frame are joined to the outer frame wherein the upper frame is comprised of a protective pad wherein the protective pad is comprised of an extension segment wherein the inner frame can separate from the upper frame by a screw mechanism.
  • In one embodiment, the combined frame is comprised of an embedded slot wherein the an embedded slot further comprises at least one slot within the embedded slot wherein the upper frame has an embedded segment wherein the embedded segment is comprised of an insert at the bridge wherein the embedded segment correspond with the slot and the embedded slot. In another embodiment, the embedded segment is comprised of a convex segment wherein the segment correspond with the slot wherein the rim is locked to the frame as the convex segment is inserted to the slot.
