Abstract

A display includes a frame, a display panel and a privacy screen device. The frame includes two first sides and two second sides. The privacy screen device includes an engaging portion secured on one second side, a privacy screen unit and a guiding portion secured on the two first sides. The privacy screen unit includes a receiving portion secured on another second side, a privacy screen sheet and an engaging member. The engaging member is attached to the privacy screen sheet. The privacy screen sheet is wrapped around the receiving portion. When the engaging member engages with the engaging portion, the privacy screen sheet is at a deployed position where the privacy screen sheet unrolled and covers the display panel. When the engaging member is released from the engaging portion, the privacy screen sheet moves from the deployed position to a roll-up position where the display panel is entirely exposed.

Description

    BACKGROUND
  • 1. Technical Field
  • The present disclosure relates to privacy screen devices and displays with the privacy screen devices.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • Displays are widely used for information display. In certain circumstances, the information is private and/or classified and people do not want other people to observe the information. Thus, a privacy screen may be attached by adhesive to the display to reduce viewing angles of the display. However, it is easy for the privacy screen to fall off the display, which allows unwanted observation of the screen data.
  • Therefore, a privacy screen device and a display having the same, which can overcome the limitations described, are needed.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a schematic view of a display, according to a first embodiment, showing the display in a deployed state.
  • FIG. 2 is similar to FIG. 1, but showing the display in a rolled-up state.
  • FIG. 3 is a schematic view of a display, according to a second embodiment.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • Referring to FIG. 1, a display 100, according to a first embodiment, includes a privacy screen device 10, a frame 20, and a display panel 30. In this embodiment, the display panel 30 is a liquid crystal display panel.
  • The frame 20 surrounds the display panel 30 and includes two first sides 21 and two second sides 22. The two first sides 21 are substantially parallel to each other. The two second sides 22 are substantially parallel to each other 22. The two first sides 21 connect the two second sides 22 to cooperatively form a frame 23. The frame 23 surrounds the display panel 30.
  • The privacy screen device 10 includes a privacy screen unit 11, an engaging portion 12 and a guiding portion 13. The guiding portion 13 is attached on outer surfaces 211 of the two first sides 21. In this embodiment, the guiding portion 13 includes two rails 130. Each rail 130 is attached on the outer surface 211 of the corresponding first side 21. The outer surface 211 of the first side 21 may be a front horizontal elongated surface of the first side 21 that can be seen directly by a user in practical use.
  • The engaging portion 12 is securely mounted on an outer surface 222 of one of the second sides 22. The engaging portion 12 includes a hook 121 in this embodiment. The outer surface 222 of the second side 22 may be understood as a front vertical elongated surface of the second side 22 that can be seen directly by a user in practical use.
  • The privacy screen unit 11 includes a receiving portion 111, a privacy screen sheet 112 and an engaging member 113. The engaging member 113 is securely connected to a distal edge 114 (a free edge) of the privacy screen sheet 112 and corresponds to the engaging portion 12. The engaging member 113 has an engaging arm 115. The engaging arm 115 can be engaged with the hook 121 when in use. The privacy screen sheet 112 is wrapped around the receiving portion 111. The guiding portion 113 receives two edges of the privacy screen sheet 112 and guides movement of the privacy screen sheet 112 therealong. The edges of the privacy screen sheet 112 are substantially perpendicular to the second side 22.
  • The receiving portion 111 includes a rotating shaft 116 and two fasteners 117. The two fasteners 117 are respectively attached to two opposite edges of a side surface 223 of another one of the second sides 22. The side surface 223 is substantially perpendicular to the outer surface 222. The side surface 223 of the second side 22 may be a left/right side vertical elongated surface of the second side 22 that can be seen directly by a user in practical use.
  • The rotating shaft 116 is rotatably supported on the two fasteners 117. An end of the privacy screen sheet 112 (not shown) is securely mounted on the rotating shaft 116 so that the privacy screen sheet 112 is capable of being wrapped around the rotating shaft 116 firmly.
  • If a privacy screen function of the display 100 is not needed, the user rotates a portion of the privacy screen sheet 112 corresponding to the rotating shaft 116 to wrap the privacy screen sheet 112 around the rotating shaft 116. Thus, the display panel 30 is entirely exposed as shown in FIG. 1. Furthermore, it is easy to save the privacy screen sheet 112 around the rotating shaft 116.
  • If the privacy screen function of the display 100 is needed, the user takes hold of the engaging member 113 and pulls the engaging member 113 towards the engaging portion 12 so the privacy screen sheet 112 is fully extended from the rotating shaft 116. The user latchingly engages the engaging member 113 with the engaging portion 12 to secure the privacy screen sheet 112. The privacy screen sheet 112 is unrolled and covers the display panel 30 as shown in FIG. 2. Therefore, it is convenient to switch the to the privacy screen function of the display 100.
  • During the movement of the privacy screen sheet 112, the rails 130 precisely guide the privacy screen sheet 112 so the user can move the privacy screen sheet 112 conveniently and quickly.
  • Referring to FIG. 3, a display 200, according to a second embodiment, is shown. The difference between the display 200 and the display 100 of the first embodiment is that, the display 200 further includes a grip portion 40.
  • The grip portion 40 is secured on an end of a rotating shaft 216 for facilitating rotation of the rotating shaft 216. The user may rotate the grip portion 40 to rotate the rotating shaft 216, thereby wrapping, or extending the privacy screen sheet 212. In this way, the user can avoid getting fingerprints on the privacy screen sheet 212.
  • It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present embodiments have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structures and functions of the embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the disclosure to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
