Abstract
My invention “Global Trak” is comprised of a GPS tracking unit, a lithium ion battery, a microprocessor, and a plastic square protective carrier. This invention is intended to be used for airline passengers whom want to know where their luggage is located at all times. The unit will be linked to a GPS unit, and a computer program which will enable passengers the ability to “track” their luggage. The GPS unit contained in the plastic square protective carrier will enable the unit to communicate with a satellite and then in turn send data to a computer program. The microprocessor contained in the unit may also contain information specific to the passenger. The lithium ion battery will power the GPS unit and microprocessor. The plastic protective carrier can either be used as a “luggage type tag” or can be stored in the luggage itself.
Description
- The present invention relates to a global positioning system that is placed in any type of luggage, pet carrier, or cargo carrier. The present invention involves the tracking of the above mentioned articles while in transit.
- In recent years the popularity of GPS (Global Positioning Systems) has increased. Also the amount of lost luggage and personal belongings has increased dramatically. I have searched for prior art, specific to my invention and no prior art exists.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a viable locator device for any airline passengers luggage. The present invention provides a viable way in which passengers can keep track of their possessions. The present invention would work with PDA devices, and airline reservation systems to ensure that the passenger knows where their luggage is at all times during and after transit. The present invention can be either sewn into the inside of the luggage itself or can be attached to the handle of the luggage. The present invention consists of a 3¼ inch plastic casing. Inside the casing the present invention has a battery, and a two independent sets of wiring with a GPS chip and a microprocessor.
- Brief Description of the drawings/detailed description of the preferred embodiments.
-
FIG. 1 is a frontal view of the present invention. It illustrates the opening mechanism and the luggage attachment. -
FIG. 2 is a side view of the present invention. The side of the present invention is ¼ inch thick. -
FIG. 2 also shows the latch that holds the present invention to the piece of luggage. -
FIG. 3 illustrates the inside view of the present invention featuring a GPS chip and two independent sets of wiring connecting to a microprocessor and a battery. -
FIG. 4 illustrates the bottom view of the present invention. On the bottom side of the present invention includes a plaque where the passenger can put their personal information
