Abstract

A safety ring for a window blind has a ring and a connector. The ring has a gap. The connector is connected to the ring and has multiple tabs detachably mounted through and engaging the gap of the ring. When a cord passing through the ring is pulled by lateral force, the connector attached to a shade will disengage from the ring. Therefore, the window blind is safely used and prevents children from being wrapped in the cord.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a safety ring, and more particularly to a safety ring for a window blind to prevent children from choking hazards.
  • 2. Description of the Prior Arts
  • Window blinds are coverings for windows and serve the purpose of adjusting or blocking the rays of light. To meet demands for different users, various window blinds are produced and are divided into two kinds a horizontal version and a vertical version. The vertical version is pulled up and down including venetian blinds, Roman shades, roller shades and the like.
  • With reference to FIG. 5, a conventional Roman shade has a rail (40), a shade (41), multiple positioning rings (42) and multiple cords (43). The shade (41) is fixed to the rail (40) at a top edge and has a bottom. The positioning rings (42) are mounted on the shade (41) at intervals and may be made of iron or plastic. The cords (43) are mounted on the rail (40) and each cord (43) is extended vertically and passes through corresponding positioning rings (42) and is connected to a corresponding positioning ring (42) near the bottom of the shade (41). By pulling or releasing the cords (43), the shade (41) may be drawn or opened.
  • However, the cords (43) and the shade (41) are only fastened to each other by the bottom-most positioning rings (42), so space is formed between the cord (43) and the shade (41). Children easily pull the cords (43) when they are at play and the cords (43) may accidentally wrap around their necks causing a choking hazard. Therefore, the conventional window blind is unsafe and is dangerous for children.
  • To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention provides a safety ring for a window blind to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The main object of the present invention is to provide a safety ring for a window blind to protect children from choking hazards for security.
  • A safety ring for a window blind in accordance with the present invention comprises a ring and a connector.
  • Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a safety ring for a window blind in accordance with the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the safety ring for a window blind in FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 3 is a side view in partial section of the safety ring for a window blind in FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 4 is an operational perspective view of the safety ring for a window blind in FIG. 1 with a shade; and
  • FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a conventional Roman shade in accordance with the prior art.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • With reference to FIGS. 1 to 3, a safety ring for a window blind in accordance with the present invention comprises a ring (10) and a connector (20).
  • The ring (10) has a seat (11) and a gap (12) formed radially through the seat (11).
  • The connector (20) is connected to the ring (10) and has a body (21), multiple tabs (22) and a hook (23). The body (21) has two sides. The tabs (22) are formed on and protrude from one side of the body (21) and are detachably mounted through and selectively engage the gap (12) of the ring (10). In a preferred embodiment, two tabs (22) are formed on the body (21). The hook (23) is formed on and protrudes from the other side of the body (21).
  • With reference to FIG. 4, the hook (23) of the connector (20) is hung on a positioning ring (31) of a shade (30) and a cord (32) is passed through the rings (10). By pulling or releasing the cords (32), the shade (30) may be drawn or opened. The ring (10) and the connector (20) stay connected up for normal force. Since the hook (23) of the connector (20) is connected to the shade (30), when the cord (32) is pulled laterally, the tabs (22) of the connector (20) will disengage from the gap (12) of the ring (10) so the cord (32) and the shade (30) are separated. Thus children wrapped in the cord (32) easily escape. Besides, the hook (23) may directly be hung on a strap (33) of the shade (30) without the positioning ring (31).
  • Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and features of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in the details, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
