Abstract
A cosmetic container includes a peripheral wall that defines an accommodating space and that has opposite first and second openings, a lid detachably connected to the peripheral wall to close the first opening, and a bottom wall detachably connected to the peripheral wall to close the second opening.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- This invention relates to a cosmetic container, more particularly to a cosmetic container that may be made to a minimal thickness and that may be easily recycled.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- Referring to
FIG. 1 , a conventionalcosmetic container 1 includes abody 11 and acover 12. Thebody 11 includes an enclosingwall 111 that defines acompartment space 110, and abottom wall 112 that closes one end of the enclosingwall 111. Thecover 12 closes the other end of the enclosingwall 111 to thereby encapsulate thecompartment space 110. The enclosingwall 111 and thebottom wall 112 are formed as a single piece. Thebottom wall 112 typically has a significant thickness in order to allow for easy mold removal as well as to prevent damage thereto. Hence, there exists a significant discrepancy between the volume of thecompartment space 110 and the outer dimensions of thebody 11. The cost of manufacture is increased due to such waste of material. - Taiwanese Patent No. M247065, with reference to FIG. 2, is another conventional design of a
cosmetic container 2, which includes abody 21, aninner cup 22, and acover 23 that covers thebody 21. Because thebody 21, in this case, is not constructed as a single piece, the overall thickness thereof may be reduced. However, due to the additional provision of theinner cup 22, and the fact that theinner cup 22 and thebody 21 are fabricated from different materials, in order to prepare thecosmetic container 2 for recycling, it is necessary to first remove thecover 23 so that theinner cup 22 may be separated from thebody 21 for separate processing. This creates a cumbersome recycling process. - Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a cosmetic container that is capable of overcoming the above-mentioned drawbacks of the prior art.
- According to the present invention, a cosmetic container includes a peripheral wall that defines an accommodating space and that has opposite first and second openings, a lid detachably connected to the peripheral wall to close the first opening, and a bottom wall detachably connected to the peripheral wall to close the second opening.
- Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent in the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, of which:
-
FIG. 1 is a sectional view of a conventional cosmetic container; -
FIG. 2 is a sectional view of another conventional cosmetic container; -
FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view of the preferred embodiment of a cosmetic container according to the present invention; and -
FIG. 4 is a sectional view of the preferred embodiment. - As illustrated in
FIGS. 3 and 4 , the preferred embodiment of acosmetic container 10 according to the present invention includes aperipheral wall 3 that defines anaccommodating space 30 and that has opposite first andsecond openings lid 5 detachably connected to theperipheral wall 3 to close thefirst opening 31, and abottom wall 4 detachably connected to theperipheral wall 3 to close thesecond opening 31. Thebottom wall 4 is press-fitted into theaccommodating space 30, and is in sealing contact with an inner surface of theperipheral wall 3 at a location proximate to thesecond opening 32. Preferably, theinner surface 33 of theperipheral wall 3 is formed with agroove 34 at the location proximate to thesecond opening 32, and thebottom wall 4 has a peripheral edge embedded in thegroove 34. Theperipheral wall 3 and thebottom wall 4 are made of the same material. In the preferred embodiment, theperipheral wall 3 and thebottom wall 4 are made of polypropylene. - In some embodiments, the
bottom wall 4 may be secured to theinner surface 33 of theperipheral wall 3 to close thesecond opening 32 using a process of high-frequency welding. - The
peripheral wall 3 andbottom wall 4 are first separately manufactured and then assembled together. Because of this initial separation, thicknesses of theperipheral wall 3 and thebottom wall 4 are no longer constrained due to reasons related to mold removal as in the prior art. Consequently, the thickness of thebottom wall 4 can be reduced to thereby considerably increase a volume of theaccommodating space 30. - Additionally, the
bottom wall 4 and theperipheral wall 3 are fabricated from the same material. This eliminates the need to separate these elements for recycling. That is, thebottom wall 4, thelid 5, and theperipheral wall 3 can be collected together, and do not require disassembly, thereby simplifying the recycling process. - While the present invention has been described in connection with what is considered the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is understood that this invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiment but is intended to cover various arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and equivalent arrangements.
