Abstract

A cosmetic container includes a peripheral wall that defines an accommodating space and that has opposite first and second openings, a lid detachably connected to the peripheral wall to close the first opening, and a bottom wall detachably connected to the peripheral wall to close the second opening.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • This invention relates to a cosmetic container, more particularly to a cosmetic container that may be made to a minimal thickness and that may be easily recycled.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • Referring to FIG. 1, a conventional cosmetic container 1 includes a body 11 and a cover 12. The body 11 includes an enclosing wall 111 that defines a compartment space 110, and a bottom wall 112 that closes one end of the enclosing wall 111. The cover 12 closes the other end of the enclosing wall 111 to thereby encapsulate the compartment space 110. The enclosing wall 111 and the bottom wall 112 are formed as a single piece. The bottom wall 112 typically has a significant thickness in order to allow for easy mold removal as well as to prevent damage thereto. Hence, there exists a significant discrepancy between the volume of the compartment space 110 and the outer dimensions of the body 11. The cost of manufacture is increased due to such waste of material.
  • Taiwanese Patent No. M247065, with reference to FIG. 2, is another conventional design of a cosmetic container 2, which includes a body 21, an inner cup 22, and a cover 23 that covers the body 21. Because the body 21, in this case, is not constructed as a single piece, the overall thickness thereof may be reduced. However, due to the additional provision of the inner cup 22, and the fact that the inner cup 22 and the body 21 are fabricated from different materials, in order to prepare the cosmetic container 2 for recycling, it is necessary to first remove the cover 23 so that the inner cup 22 may be separated from the body 21 for separate processing. This creates a cumbersome recycling process.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a cosmetic container that is capable of overcoming the above-mentioned drawbacks of the prior art.
  • According to the present invention, a cosmetic container includes a peripheral wall that defines an accommodating space and that has opposite first and second openings, a lid detachably connected to the peripheral wall to close the first opening, and a bottom wall detachably connected to the peripheral wall to close the second opening.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent in the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, of which:
  • FIG. 1 is a sectional view of a conventional cosmetic container;
  • FIG. 2 is a sectional view of another conventional cosmetic container;
  • FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view of the preferred embodiment of a cosmetic container according to the present invention; and
  • FIG. 4 is a sectional view of the preferred embodiment.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • As illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4, the preferred embodiment of a cosmetic container 10 according to the present invention includes a peripheral wall 3 that defines an accommodating space 30 and that has opposite first and second openings 31, 32, a lid 5 detachably connected to the peripheral wall 3 to close the first opening 31, and a bottom wall 4 detachably connected to the peripheral wall 3 to close the second opening 31. The bottom wall 4 is press-fitted into the accommodating space 30, and is in sealing contact with an inner surface of the peripheral wall 3 at a location proximate to the second opening 32. Preferably, the inner surface 33 of the peripheral wall 3 is formed with a groove 34 at the location proximate to the second opening 32, and the bottom wall 4 has a peripheral edge embedded in the groove 34. The peripheral wall 3 and the bottom wall 4 are made of the same material. In the preferred embodiment, the peripheral wall 3 and the bottom wall 4 are made of polypropylene.
  • In some embodiments, the bottom wall 4 may be secured to the inner surface 33 of the peripheral wall 3 to close the second opening 32 using a process of high-frequency welding.
  • The peripheral wall 3 and bottom wall 4 are first separately manufactured and then assembled together. Because of this initial separation, thicknesses of the peripheral wall 3 and the bottom wall 4 are no longer constrained due to reasons related to mold removal as in the prior art. Consequently, the thickness of the bottom wall 4 can be reduced to thereby considerably increase a volume of the accommodating space 30.
  • Additionally, the bottom wall 4 and the peripheral wall 3 are fabricated from the same material. This eliminates the need to separate these elements for recycling. That is, the bottom wall 4, the lid 5, and the peripheral wall 3 can be collected together, and do not require disassembly, thereby simplifying the recycling process.
  • While the present invention has been described in connection with what is considered the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is understood that this invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiment but is intended to cover various arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and equivalent arrangements.
