ATTACHMENT FOR SHIPPER LOCK AND HANDLE OF LOOMS Filed Nov. 20, 1955 176 7??? INVENTORY ATTORN EY Patented Sept. 15, 1936 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE ATTACHMENT FOR SKIPPER, LOCK AND HANDLE OF LOOMS 1 Claim.
This invention relates to attachment for shipper locks and levers of looms, and has for the primary object the provision of removable and reversible means which will efliciently protect the shipper lever and lock of a lever from wear to increase the life of said parts and thereby maintain them in perfect working condition.
With these and other objects in view, this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation, partly in section, illustrating a shipper lock and lever of a loom constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional view illustrating the application of my invention to the shipper lock and lever of a 1oom..
Figure 3 is a perspective view illustrating a wear block.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral I indicates a fragmentary portion of a loom to which is adapted a conventional type of shipper lock 2 and shipper lever 3. During the use of these parts over a period of time they become worn and unfit for further use and to relieve said parts of wear my attachment is adapted thereto and consists of a wear plate 4 secured to the lever 3 by screws or like fasteners 5. Cooperating with the wear plate 4 in reducing wear on the lock 2 is a wear block 6 secured to the lock 2 by a bolt or like fastener 1 and also contacts the shoulder 8 of the lock so as to relieve the bolt 1 of excessive strain. When the lever 3 is brought into a certain position relative to the lock 2 the wear plate 4 engages the wear block 6 thereby relieving wear to the lever and to the lock 2. When the plate 4 and block 6 become worn, each may be repositioned to present an unworn face thus increasing the life of these parts.
Having described the invention, I claim:
In combination with a shipper lock and lever of a loom, and a Wear plate detachably secured to the lever and capable of being reversed thereon when worn to present an unworn face, a wear block detachably secured to the lock and capable of being reversed thereon when Worn to present an unworn face, said block and plate cooperating to relieve wear on the lock and lever.
JERMON T. DAVIS.
