My invention relateslto improvements in receptacles, preferably for containing and dispensing matches, wherein a housing set .1. withina wall recessoperates in: conjunction with a hollow member set therein and having a match containing and dispensing compartment and also a used match receiving compartment, the whole setting within a wall reoeptacle and having their respective front faces flush with each other to provide a dispensing and receiving receptacle.

Theprimary object of the present invenr tion is to'provide a new and improved wall receptacle for dispensing matches and receiving them after use.

Another ob]ect,1s to provide a new and im proved device of the type set forth for dispensing matches conveniently and for'receiving used matches within a" lire-proof container.

A further object is .to provide a new and improved device of the character described that shall be neat in appearance, especially when the match containing member is removed from the housing for replenishment or dispensing an accumulation of burnt or used matches. c A. still furtherobject is to provide asimple, economical and fire-proof device to reduce fire risk and also forthe' purpose of contain ing and dispensing matches conveniently.

In operation, an opened box 10 of matches is inserted within the device as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2 of the drawing, and when the member 7 is in closed or operative position, said box of matches is contained within a fire-proof housing or receptacle. A match dispensing and receiving receptacle comprisinga housing provided with a flange for engaging a wall adjacent a wall recess tosupport said housing within said recess and the front portion of said receptacle substantially flush with said wall, and likewise provided. with an internal shoulder surrounding the front edge of the interior of said housing;- a dispensing shelf projecting from the lowersurface of said interior; a member ,detachably ,mounted within said housing andprovided. with a dispensing opening in the lower end thereof, a used match compartment and opening thereinto 1n the upper portion ofsaid member; and a match-box supporting :lugarranged above the dispensing opening of themember to support a; box ofmatches abovesaid dispensingopening; and a flange surrounding the member and engaging the internal shoulder of the housing for maintaining the front of the member flush. with the front of the housing and in proper co-relation therewith.
