, Our invention relates to improvements in picture building devices or means and my object is to, provide an attractively practical, and com-Y new article of manufacture, in a home ornamentfor instance, be usedto .make up eompositefsetup.y picturesof various figures, objects or goods, for temporaryv visualization or guidance, or permanent record, say of Window displays,'or photographic copying forv illustrations, etc. It is also adaptableto use by various publications in connection with printed picturesjfroml their columns, say of figures from comic strips, which mightbe assembledfby readers'in competitions for prizes offered for the best compositeipicture" made in these building sets, furnished free or as premiums with the journals advertisement thereon.

Our picture building set or outfit is comprise similar parts preferably of a frame forming front sheet 1ct transparent celluloid or like material which'hasga picture showing ,central panel 2 that is surrounded rby a framing margin, painted or printed or otherwise made, for opacity and advertising surface, 3, that is rolledback, vas 4, to form, tubular resilient flanges extended rearwardly along .each sidel of said 'frame sheet; a stiff and lopaque sheet of pasteboardor like material,V 5, with vbevelled edges, 6, forming a backboardto build pictures upon which isradaptedby sizev andA edge yformation to t within the rolled-back side flanges 4- of the front framer sheet 1, against` the rear face of frame sheet 1 and its central viewing panel'2, and be held there by said resilient side flanges 4 engaging its bevelled edges 6; and a plurality of. outline cut pictures of various objects, as 7, preferably supplied in printed sheets',` 8, with each depicted object perforated or semi-perforated in outlineto permit breaking orV tearing it out by hand, Without necessity ofscissors, knife orother tool, and also give a soft deckled, artistic outline to the depicted object' which eiects a natural and pleasing blending with any background uponV whichitrmay be placed. In a modified construction of the outfit .the front frame member of transparent material may be replaced by a flat sheet 10 of glass, celluloid or the like-with painted or otherwise .formed 'frame margin, 11, and a bolt hole, l2, at each corner of the centralcpicture pane1 coinciding with holes, 13, in-'abackboard 14; thus permitting `assemblage of backboard to framefront by means of, four rosette-headed bolts, as 15, withr rear nuts, 16,-thereon. bevelled edge upward, upon a table or other I board 5 in overlapping superpositionin any desired arrangement the various pictorial components, thus achieving both a new and attractive arrangement of parts and an appealing natural effect of depth and background distance that is due to the method of building the picture in a sequence of adjoining but distinct facial planes, or layers of components. The picture building completed, the-frame front sheet l is then laid upon the same and backboard 5, the rolled back side flanges 4 of frame sheet 1 contacting the bevelled edge 6 of backboard 5, and the frameV pressed downward by users fingers until resilient flanges 4 snap over the bevelled edgecf the backboard, the assembled component pictures being at the same time pressed between' the under surface of frame sheet 1 and the backboard 5 and held in their assemblage on the latter.

Many who have not the technical ability toA personally produce, by painting or otherwise, a good pictorial representation of any object, but nevertheless possess considerable artistic taste, may Vby means of these .completed individual pictures used as component parts and so easily handled, produce a very attractive art composition which expresses with great individuality, because no two ofithesecompositions are exactly alike, their innate sense of the beautiful andorigina'lity of conception; .Our picture building set is, therefore, a'medium -of artisticv expression which meets aneed of many people. It also furnishes a complete, framed pictureof original design that is of decorative value and personal interest, which latter may be intensified by the inclusion of home photographs in the art composition. A backstay, as 18, and'hanger tag, as 19, on the back of backboard 5 as shown inFig; 5, may be used to set up oni-'mantel or .hang on wall the completed picture. It will be understood that several modifications or variations of parts may be made withoutVA departing from the spirit of the set.

l. `A picture building set comprised of a frame, a transparent front in said frame, a detachable backboard in said frame normally contacting said transparent front, means for holding said backboard against said transparent front, and a plurality of outline cut pictures of various objects adapted to assembly by overlapping superposition on said backboard and each other between said backboard and said transparent front.

In a new article of manufacture, a picture building set comprised of a frame having resilient inturned edges, a transparent front in said frame, a detachable backboard in said frame normally contacting said transparent front, and a sheet having depicted thereon a plurality of pictures of various objects adapted to detachment from said sheet and assemblage into overlapping superposition on said backboard between said backboard and said transparent front by flexing saidv resilient edges of the frame upon said backboard.

In a new article of manufacture, a picture building setA comprised of a frame having resilient inturned edges, a transparent front in said frame, a detachable backboard in said frame normally contacting said transparent front, and a picture upon paper-like material assembled by superposition on said backboardrby flexing said resilient edges of the said frame upon said backboard and held in position of assembly by the pressure induced by said resilient edges between saidbackboard and said transparent front.

In a new article of manufacture, a picture building vset comprised of a backboard having a bevelled edge; a plurality of pictures adapted to assemblage upon the said backboard in overlapping superposition, and a frame front memL ber having a transparent center panel and inturned resilient edges superposed upon said pic-V tures and backboardrand held against same by the pressure induced by the engagement of said resilient edges with the bevelled edges ofthe sai backboard. 1

In a new article of manufacture, a picture building set comprised of a backboard` having a bevelled edge, a plurality of pictures on paperlike material adapted to assemblage `upon the said backboard, and a frame member having a transparent center panel and resilient inturned edgesfsuperposed upon said pictures and backboard andV held against same by the pressure induced by the engagement of lsaid resilient edges with the bevelled edge of the said backboard.
