provide a split clamping ring and means for loosening and tightening said clamping ring.
A further object is to provide a non-rotatable bolt which is held firmly in position within a sleeve which carries an electric cable.
A further object is to provide a pair of oppositely disposed lugs on said non-rotatable bolt.
A further object is to provide two nuts threaded upon the non-rotatable bolt, one nut being positioned between the extended end portions of the split clamping ring and the other nut being positioned upon theouter side of one endof said oppositely disposed extended end portions.
A still further object is to provide a sleeve at right angles to one extended end of said split clamping ring and in alignment with the nonrotatable bolt.
With the foregoing andother objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and inthe details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:-
Figure 1 is a top plan view of the battery terminal clamp.
Figure 2 is an end elevation of the device positioned upon a terminal post of a battery.
Figure 3 is a cross section taken on line 33 of Figure 1 showing a full structure.
By referring to the drawing it will be seen that there is provided a clamping ring 1 which is normally clamped upon a terminal post 2. This clamping ring 1 is constructed as a split ring with a pair of oppositely disposed extended end portions 3 and 4. The oppositely disposed extended end 4 is provided with a sleeve member 5 for the purpose of carrying a non-rotatable bolt 6 having a head '7. This bolt head '7 is provided with an oppositely disposed pair of lugs 8 which are firmly secured in oppositely disposed channels within the inner end of the sleeve 5.
This sleeve 5 also carries an electric cable 9. This electric cable 9 is held securely within the sleeve 5 by means of solder 10. This solder 10 also forms a complete electrical connection with the extended end 4.
By referring to Figure 1 it will be seen that the bolt 6 carries a threaded nut 11 positioned between the extended end portions 3 and 4. It will also be seen that this bolt 6 carries a threaded nut 12 upon the outer side of the extended portion 3. The bolt 6 passes through a non-threaded opening 13 of the extendedend portion 3.
In operating the device the operator wishing to place the device upon the terminal post 2 will turn the nut 12 outwardly upon the end of the bolt 6 and then turn the nut 11 so as to carry the extended end portion 3 outwardly, thus separating the clamping ring 1.
The operator now turns thethreaded nut 11 back towards the head '7 far enough to allow for the carrying of the extended end portion 3 inwardly by turning the threaded bolt 12 back against the extended end portion 3 and thereby forcing the extendeden'd portions3 and 4 to wards each other in order that the clamping ring 1 may post 2.
When the clamping ring 1 has been thus secured to the terminal post 2 the nut 11 should be turned securely against the extended end portion 3. In removing the clamping ring 1 a reverse action ofthe nuts 11 and '12 would be made.
What I claim is:
1. In a device of the class described comprising a clamping ring with extended end portions, a sleeve formed as an integral part of one of said extended end portions and at right angles to said end portion, a boltsecured within said sleeve and extended through unthreaded openings in said extended end portions, a pair of nuts I threaded upon said bolt, one nut being positioned between said extended end portions for the purpose of spreading the clamping ring and the other nut being positioned on the outer end of said bolt and on the outside of one of said extended end portions for the purpose of drawing together said clamping ring.

In a device of the class described comprising a clamping ring having extended end portions, a sleeve formed as an integral part of one of said extended end portions and at right angles to said end portion a pair of oppositely disposed channels formed in said sleeve, a bolt secured within said sleeve and extending through unthreaded openings in said extended end portions, a head on said bolt, a pair of oppositely disposed lugs on said head fitting in said oppositely disposed channelsfor the purpose of preventing said bolt from rotating, an electric cable securely fas-' tened within said sleeve and in alignment with be firmly positioned upon the terminal said bolt, a pair of nuts threaded upon said bolt, 1
